Scouting the Eagles
The Eagles are 1-2 this season with a 95-38 win over Olivet (Nov. 8). EMU's two losses came against #17 Michigan State (Nov. 5) and Youngstown State (Nov. 16). Both Jenna Annecchiarico and Corrione Cardwell posted 33 points thus far. Annecchiarico had a season-best 19 points against Youngstown State (Nov. 16). As a team, the Eagles average 74 points and 6.3 three-pointers per game. Head Coach Fred Castro is in his first season at the helm of the Eastern Michigan program, but is in his 17th season with the Eagles.Â

Road TripÂ
The Redhawks remain on the road for a four-game trip that started last week against Arkansas State. The trip continues at Eastern Michigan (Nov. 19) and Purdue Fort Wayne (Nov. 21) this week. Then, the Redhawks head to Saint Louis (Dec. 3). SEMO returns to the Show Me Center to host regional rival Southern Illinois (Dec. 7). The Redhawks are on the road for seven non-conference games this year.

Southeast Missouri is 3-0 this young season after beating Missouri-St. Louis and Evansville at home and at Arkansas State. SEMOÂ starts a season at 3-0 for the first time since 2008-09. That year, the Redhawks finished fifth in the Ohio Valley after winning the OVC the season before.
Thompson Named Preseason All-OVC TeamÂ
Junior guardÂ
Tesia Thompson was named Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference Team for the second consecutive season. Thompson has 970 points and 392 rebounds thus far. The Memphis, Tennessee native is 2287-391 (.734) at the free throw line. She averages 15.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 28.6 minutes per game.Â
OVC Preseason PollÂ
Southeast Missouri women's basketball was picked to finish sixth in this year's Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll, garnering 139 total points. Belmont picked up 14 of the 24 first-place votes en route to a third-straight preseason favorite. Belmont forward Ellie Harmeyer was named the OVC Preseason Player of the Year. The 2019-20 season will be the fifth under head coachÂ
Rekha Patterson. Under Patterson's leadership, the Redhawks finished the 2018-19 season with an overall record of 13-17 and 8-10 mark in conference play.Â
