TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics totaled a team score of 187.800 Friday evening in its season opener against #6 Alabama, Northern Illinois and Temple at the Coleman Coliseum.

Alabama captured the quad meet with a mark of 194.750 followed by Northern Illinois (193.325) and Temple (191.925).Â

Southeast opened its 2019 campaign on floor with a team score of 46.775.
Anna Kaziska posted her first career score of 9.700 or higher with a 9.725 in the anchor position in her first collegiate meet.
Mackenzie Slee notched a 9.700 for second on the team and
Gabrielle Adams tallied a 9.550.

The Redhawks then registered a 47.750 on vault in the second rotation. Slee stuck a 9.675 to lead SEMO in the second to last vault position. Kaziska was second on the team with a 9.600.
Gabrielle Adams (9.575),
Samantha Gallet (9.525) and
Michael Sanders (9.375) rounded out SEMO on the discipline.Â

Maya Tran posted a 9.300 on vault in her collegiate gymnastics debut.Â

In the third rotation, Southeast had a 46.775 on bars. In her return from a season-ending injury in 2018,
Lindsey Bates posted a team-best score of 9.650 on the event. Gallet was second on the Redhawks with a 9.625.
Allyson Bell chipped in a score of 9.350 and
Kendra Benak had a 9.150.

SEMO ended the quad meet on beam with a score of 46.500. Kaziska and
Alana Fischer recorded identical team-high scores of 9.525 to bookend the Southeast rotation. Sanders added a 9.475 and
Megan Dennis was fourth on the team with a 9.375.

Kaziska was fourth in the all-around competition with a total of 37.550. Lexi Graber of Alabama won the competition with a 39.125.Â

Southeast next travels to Iowa for a dual meet with the Hawkeyes on Friday, Jan. 11 in Iowa City, Iowa at 6:30 p.m. SEMO then returns to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, for their home opener against San Jose State on Friday, Jan. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Houck Field House.
