Southeast Tennis Opens 2019 Spring Season with Pair of Weekend Dual Meets at Mizzou

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis opens its 2019 spring season with two dual meets this weekend at the Mizzou Tennis Complex. The Redhawks face Arkansas State Friday at 5 p.m. and then take on Mizzou Saturday at 1 p.m.

Under fourth-year head coach Mary Beth Gunn Southeast competed in four tournaments during the fall. Overall, SEMO returns four from last season including Kseniya Zonova who earned Second-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors in 2018.

Romana Tarajova led Southeast this past fall in singles with seven wins (7-3). She advanced to the Round of 32s at the 2018 ITA Central Regional after earning a first round bye. Tarajova also recorded a team-best doubles record of 7-2 with Manuela Barriga and won two doubles tournaments this past fall.

Sneha Sinha also made an impact for SEMO during the fall season, with a team best seven singles wins (7-5). She advanced to the Flight B Singles Championship Final at the season-opening Austin Peay Fall Invitational.

Following this weekend's matches, Southeast will head to Saint Louis for a dual meet against the Billikens on Friday, Feb. 1 at 11 a.m.
