CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis (4-12, 1-6 OVC) wraps up its regular season with a pair of road dual meets on Friday and Saturday.
Southeast travels to Charleston, Illinois, for a Friday morning dual with Eastern Illinois at 10 a.m. at the Darling Tennis Courts. The Redhawks then face SIUE in Edwardsville, Illinois, on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Edwardsville YMCA.
SEMO enters the weekend after dropping back-to-back duals, 4-3, at UT Martin and then Jacksonville State.
Kseniya Zonova has won her last three matches at the no. 2 singles position. She beat Jemima Potter of UTM, 6-0, 6-3, on Wednesday, April 4 and then fought past Jacksonville State's Alessia Locati, 7-6, 6-2, on Saturday, April 8.
Zonova now boasts a team-best singles record of 19-9 (9-5 duals) with a 5-2 mark in the league.
Oleksandra Doroshenko is second on the Redhawks with an 18-11 (9-7 duals) record this season playing exclusively at the top singles slot.
On the doubles side,
Anais Emelie and
Isabella Krupa registered their first win as partners in 2018 last Saturday at Jacksonville State.
Alessandra Maya Thompson and
Maja Lundell then battled past JSU's Malin Buechner and Alba Conejero in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (8), to seize the doubles point for the Redhawks.
Eastern Illinois (10-12) is tied for fourth in the OVC with Jacksonville State at 4-3 in conference play but has lost its two most recent meets to Murray State (7-0, April 6) and Austin Peay (6-1, April 7). Stella Cliffe leads the Panthers with a 12-8 dual record in 2018 and has played at the top two singles positions. Cliffe and Grace Summers have teamed up for a team best 12-6 mark at the no. 1 doubles spot.
SIUE enters the weekend winless in 2018 (0-18, 0-7 OVC) and hosts UT Martin on Friday at 2 p.m. Lara Tupper has won two of her last four No. 1 singles matches for the Cougars. Ann-Christine Link has also won two of her last four singles matches, both in the No. 3 spot.
