CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis (3-6, 0-0 OVC) opens its Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) schedule on Sunday at 11 a.m. against Eastern Kentucky at the Redhawks Tennis Complex.

"The team has been very focused on preparing for conference matches during practice and during these past matches," head coach
Mary Beth Gunn said. "We are working on getting everyone healthy and back on the court."

The meet also marks the home opener for the Redhawks after competing in nine non-conference duals on the road.

SEMO concluded non-conference play on Tuesday with a 4-3 loss to Western Illinois in St. Louis, Missouri.
Oleksandra Doroshenko and
Kseniya Zonova teamed up for the lone doubles win.
Alessandra Maya Thompson, Doroshenko and Zonova also recorded singles victories at the dual.

Doroshenko enters Sunday's meet on a three-match win streak. She leads the Redhawks in 2018 with a 5-4 dual record. Zonova has also won her past two singles matches and is 4-3 at duals this season.

Eastern Kentucky travels to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, for Sunday's dual sporting a 5-8 record in 2018. The Colonels picked up non-conference wins over University of the Cumberlands, Arkansas State, Lindsey Wilson College, Miami (Ohio) and Stetson. EKU most recently fell to Western Kentucky, 5-2, in Deland, Florida, on Tuesday.

The Colonels were picked to finish first in the OVC this season and had three players (Kristina Lagoda, Laura Argente and Viktorija Demecenkova) named to the league's preseason top ten players.
