Tipping Off
For the third-straight year under head coach Rekha Patterson, Southeast Missouri women's basketball will play for an Ohio Valley Conference Tournament title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Southeast, the #7 seed in the tournament, will play #2 UT Martin in game one Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind.

 
How We Got Here
Southeast Missouri finished the season at 14-16, 9-9 in conference play. The Redhawks and Austin Peay finished with the same conference record, however the Governors own the tiebreaker after sweeping the season series with SEMO. Both UT Martin and SIUE finished the season at 13-5 in the conference, with the Skyhawks owning the tiebreaker giving them the two seed. This is the third consecutive season the Redhawks have made the OVC tournament. They fell last year in the first round to the number one seeded Belmont 59-74.
 
 
Scouting UT Martin
The Skyhawks finished 17-13 on the season, 13-5 in conference play. They defeated the Redhawks in the last meeting 69-68 and have won eight of their last nine, the lone loss to Morehead State ending 85-77. On the season, they are led by Kendall Spray who averages 17.8 points and 3.6 rebounds to go along with 44 percent shooting from deep.

Last Meeting with the Skyhawks
Southeast fell 69-68 in the last game season on Saturday against UT Martin, Tesia Thompson had a career-high 25 points in the loss. The Redhawks lost to the Skyhawks 72-65 in the first meeting this season back on February 10 well. The last SEMO win against the Skyhawks came on Jan. 14, 2017 with a score of 82-79. UT Martin leads the all-time series 36-30.
 
 
OVC Tournament History
Southeast Missouri will make its 19th appearance in the OVC Tournament. The Redhawks are officially 8-16 in their all-time tournament appearances. The Redhawks have won two OVC Tournament titles (2006, 2007); however, the 2006 title was vacated due to NCAA sanctions. Southeast has made the OVC Tournament in 1992, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
 

Looking Ahead

If the Redhawks win, they will play the winner of #2 SIUE vs #7 Austin Peay on Friday, March 2, at 3 p.m. A loss will conclude their season.
