Series History
Tuesday marks the 71st meeting between Southeast and Arkansas State which are located less than three hours away from each other. The Redhawks and Red Wolves square off twice in midweek action this season with the other matchup scheduled for Apr. 3 in Cape Girardeau. Southeast has won five of the last seven games of the series and split with ASU last season. The Redhawks fell to the Red Wolves, 10-1, in Jonesboro and won, 10-4, in Cape Girardeau.

Holyfield to Make First Career Start
Junior right-hander
Ashton Holyfield will make his first career start in a Southeast uniform against Arkansas State Tuesday. Holyfield joined the Redhawks after spending two seasons at Arkansas Baptist. He went 3-1 with a 2.07 ERA in nine games and seven starts en route to securing NJCAA Region 2 All-Region honors in 2017.
Ezell Starts Strong
Second baseman
Trevor Ezell hit .700 (7-for-10) with a run scored and one stolen base in three starts at the College of Charleston (Feb. 16-18). Ezell had multiple hits in each game against the Cougars. He was 2-for-4 with a run scored in the season-opener, went 3-for-3 in game two and finished opening weekend with a 2-for-3 performance. Friday's season-opener marked Ezell's first start since Feb. 26, 2017 as he missed all but seven games due to a back injury a year ago.
First Lead
Southeast took its first lead of the season with a three-run first inning at the College of Charleston (Feb. 16).
Trevor Ezell drove the game's first pitch for a single through the right side and quickly stole second.

Chase Urhahn were both hit by a pitch with one out before
Tristen Gagan walked and Ezell scored.
Southerland Delivers
Newcomer
Hunter Southerland recorded the Redhawks first RBI-hit of the 2018 season when his double to right center scored both
Danny Wright and
Chase Urhahn in the top of the first inning against the College of Charleston (Feb. 16). It was Southerland's only hit of the series.
About Arkansas State
Arkansas State opened the 2018 season with a home series loss to Missouri Valley Conference member Illinois State (Feb. 16-18). After winning its season-opener by a 1-0 shutout, the Red Wolves were outscored, 29-7, over the final two games of the series. Logan Anderson hit a team-high .333 with one RBI, while Grant Hawkins and Jeremy Brown followed hitting .308 and .300, respectively, during opening weekend. Kyle McDonald's solo home run was the difference in ASU's first win. The Red Wolves went 28-27 overall and placed seventh in the Sun Belt Conference in 2017.
Outfield Debut
Sophomore
Danny Wright made his debut as Southeast's starting center fielder against the College of Charleston (Feb. 16). Wright moved to center after starting the final 44 games of his mammoth freshman season at second base in 2017. As a freshman, Wright landed a spot on the Ohio Valley Conference All-Rookie and All-Tournament Teams, and was named to four different All-America squads. He was Southeast's top hitter with a .376 batting average, hitting from both sides of the plate. Wright started two of the Redhawks first three games in center field this season.

Junior
Trevor Ezell has started 128 games, more than any player on Southeast's 2018 roster. Ezell owns a .324 batting average with 143 runs scored, 171 hits, 29 doubles, nine triples, 10 home runs, 78 runs batted in, 99 walks and 38 stolen bases in his career. He ranks among the school's all-time career leaders in triples (7th, 9), walks (8th, 99) and stolen bases (8th, 38). Ezell collected multiple hits a total of 27 times and drove in multiple runs on 12 occasions in his career.
