Box Score STARKVILLE, Ms.– Southeast Missouri tipped off the 2018-19 season at Mississippi State Tuesday night. The Redhawks fell 88-53 to the Bulldogs at Humphrey Coliseum.
Freshman
Taelour Pruitt made a splash in her Redhawk debut. Pruitt finished the night with 15 points and four rebounds.
Tesia Thompson finished the night with 19 points, being the second Redhawk in double-figures.
In the first quarter, the Redhawks trailed 19-12. During this quarter,
Carrie Shephard scored her first three-pointer in a SEMO jersey and
LaTrese Saine went 3-for-4 from the line.
Celeste Akoro also saw time as a first-time Redhawk as she recorded a block against the Bulldogs. Akoro ended the night with three rebounds and two blocks.
In the first half, the Redhawks went 7-for-10 from the free throw line. This included both Saine and Thompson going 3-for-4 each.
In the third quarter, Thompson reached double-figures as she sank both free-throws. Thompson ended the game with 19 points and went 9 -for- 12 from the free-throw line.
In the end, the Redhawks went 15-for-22 (.682) from the free-throw line.
SEMO is now 1-23 against SEC opponents and 0-2 against MSU.
Southeast remains on the road as they head to Bradley, Saturday. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m., CT.
