IOWA CITY, Iowa – Southeast Missouri women's tennis wrapped up the 2018 ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Central Regional Sunday at the Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex. Romana Tarajova led the Redhawks with a Round of 32s finish in the singles main draw. 
 
"We played big tennis this weekend, and I am proud of how we represented Southeast at this tournament in play and class," head coach Mary Beth Gunn said. "We proved to ourselves that we can compete at the highest level in college tennis. Not all close matches went our way but we were right there."
 
Tarajova met Oklahoma's Martina Cappuro in the Round of 32s Sunday. Cappuro took the opening set, 7-5, before Tarajova evened the contest at 1-1 with a 7-5 second set win. Cappuro then captured the match with a 6-3 final set. 
 
Tarajova advanced to the Round of 32s with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Missouri's Taylor Gruber Saturday in the Round of 64s. She was awarded a first round bye in the singles main draw as she was seeded in the top 32.
 
"Romana played great this weekend," Gunn said of Tarajova. "She kept her cool on the court and let her tennis do the talking. I am excited to see her growth this season. She came close to making it to the round of 16s and with more experience she will see her game grow."
 
Kseniya Zonova won both of her consolation singles matches on Sunday. Zonova first defeated North Dakota's Isa Sullivan, 6-3, 6-4, before fighting past Shelby King of Arkansas State, 3-6, 7-5, 10-2. 
 
Sneha Sinha, Teona Velkoska and Isabella Krupa also recorded victories in their extra singles matches on Sunday. Sinha rallied from an 0-1 hole to capture her match, 3-6, 6-1, 10-7, over Alba Salinas of Saint Louis. 
 
Velkoska held off Missouri State's Mara Prescot, 6-2, 2-6, 10-7, and Krupa cruised past Amelia Guevremont of Arkansas State, 6-2, 6-2. 

Velkoska also dropped a 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 decision to Oklahoma's Nina Jabrzemski.

Zonova advanced through Friday's singles qualifying while Krupa and Velkoska teamed up in doubles to make it through qualifying.
 
Zonova overcame a 2-6 first set to beat Thea Dassy of Missouri-Kansas City, 2-6, 6-1, 10-8, Friday and then fought past Domingo of Saint Louis, 7-6, 6-4.
 
In doubles, Krupa and Velkoska outlasted Gorana Kadijevic and Cece Cornelius of Oral Roberts, 8-7 (3). Romana Tarajova and Manuela Barriga fell to South Dakota's Natalie Kmoskova and Jana Lazarevic, 8-2, in doubles qualifying.

Zonova and Sinha were then outlasted by Oklahoma's Cappuro and Camila Romero in their doubles main draw first round match, 8-7 (7-5).
 
Krupa and Velkoska fell to Creighton's Ashley Ishimura and Sarah Wilcox, 8-2, in their main draw doubles match.
 
The Redhawks conclude their fall slate of tournaments with the Missouri State Fall Invitational Friday, Oct. 26 through Sunday, Oct. 28 in Springfield, Missouri.
