Southeast Missouri track and field will head to Oxford, Alabama for the 2017 OVC Men's and Women's Outdoor Championships this weekend, May 11-13. The meet will be head at the newly constructed facility at Choccolocco Park. Jacksonville State University will play host for the event, which for the first-time ever will be expanded to three days.

Looking Back
Last year, SEMO's men's team dominated the outdoor championships by tallying 199.5 points. Eastern Illinois, who won the indoor title earlier this current year, followed with 140.5 points in second. The Redhawk women took fourth in last year's outdoor championships, with EIU taking the crown.

Along with the Redhawk men earning their seventh outdoor title, head coach Eric Crumpecker was named men's team coach of the year for the second time.

OVC Recognition
Last weekend at the Ole Miss Classic, Zach Gordon's efforts earned him adidas® OVC Outdoor Male Track Athlete of the Week honors. He placed third in the 200m with a conference leading time of 21.11 seconds which also ranks sixth in school history. Gordon would also recorded a top-10 finish in the 100m, placing ninth with a time of 10.53.

Conference Marks
Gordon also holds the top 100m time in the conference, clocking in at 10.48 while simultaneously ranking third in long jump (23' 10.25"; 7.27m).

Andre Bluiett rounds out the top-five of the 100m at 10.90.

In the 400m, Jarred Pasley ranks second with a time of 47.29. Jordan Barber currently holds the fifth-best time in the event, clocking a time of 48.20.

Sydney O'Brien and Kaitlyn Shea rank second (35:38.56) and third (35:56.84) in the OVC, respectively, in the 10,000m.

In the 400m hurdles, Miya Dorsey holds the second ranked conference mark at 1:01.51 while Wesley White ranks fifth on the men's side of the running at 54.03.

At the Georgia Tech Invitational, the men's 4x400m relay team clocked a time of 3:13.83 to rank second.

Christian Locke holds the top pole vault height of 16' 8.75" (5.10m) while Dylan Rush is second (15' 10") and Nick South is fourth (15' 1"). Sierra Maddox holds the second ranked height on the women's end at 12' 3.5" (3.75m).

Logan Blomquist holds the top discus mark at 174' (53.03m) while ranking fifth in both shot put and hammer. Stephen Zagurski currently ranks third in hammer (189' 7"; 57.78m)

Kayla Gutierrez set a new conference leading discus mark at 160' 7" (48.95m) last weekend while also registering a season-best shot put toss of 47' 6.25" (14.48m) to rank fourth in the conference. She also remains in the lead for hammer throw with a best distance of 188' 6" (57.45m).

Richard Vinson is first in javelin (187' 8"; 57.21m) and Andrew Ryan is third (177' 3"; 54.04m).
