Redhawks Close Out Weekend In Indiana

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Southeast Missouri's track & field teams wrapped up their weekend at the Gibson Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Indiana State.
Friday evening, Kayla Gutierrez opened the meet with a first-place finish in the hammer throw, reaching a distance of 56.21m (184' 5"). Jessenia Ellis took ninth in the event at 42.41m (139' 2") while McKenna Baker's top throw was 35.08m {115' 1").
Richard Vinson open the men's side of competition with a first-place finish in javelin (55.42m; 181' 10") as Andrew Ryan claimed second (50.48m; 165' 7"). Catherine Hopkins ended the night in seventh-place on the women's end with a best throw of 28.48m (93' 5").
Stephen Zagurski took fourth in hammer with a new personal record throw measuring 57.29m (187' 11"). Logan Blomquist took eighth in the contest with a mark of 52.56m (172' 5").
After a short opening afternoon, Saturday saw the first running events of the weekend. In the 200m dash, Andre Bluiett took ninth with a time of 21.87 seconds while Wesley White clocked in at 22.23. White appeared again in the 400m hurdles to take second-place with a time of 54.32.
In the 400m dash, Jarred Pasley took second with a season-best time of 47.38. Jordan Brown (49.78), Kameron Long (50.09) and Bluiett (50.50) took fifth through seventh, respectively, while James Kosbar took ninth (51.38). Georgia Tomlinson finished in eighth on the women's end with a time of 58.90 followed by Carli Knott at 1:02.53
Eilish Overby took fifth in the 800m with a time of 2:24.15. On the men's end, Nicholas Yaeger earned the best men's time at 2:02.15 followed by Andrew Whitener (2:04.74) and David Plunkett (2:05.71).
Curtis Reed placed 10th in the 1500m at 4:10.44. Hunter Darnell also ran in the event, earning a time of 4:14.24.
Angie Sumner clocked a time of 18:22.46 in the 5000m to take sixth.
In the 100m Hurdles, Leslie Brooks finished in 15.46 seconds. She would compete again in the long jump, reaching a distance of 5.20m. In men's long jump, Nick South's best effort measured in at 5.89m.
Andrea George finished the 3000m steeple in 12:24.95.
Sierra Maddox took third in pole vault with a height of 3.68m (12' .75"). On the men's end, Dylan Rush finished in fifth with a season-best height of 4.83m (15' 10").
Gutierrez took fourth in the women's shot put (14.06m; 46' 1.5") while Baker took eighth (13.24m). Gutierrez made a third appearance in the discus, claiming third with a season-best mark of 47.81m (156' 10"). Jessenia Ellis also made her first appearance of the meet in the event, taking ninth (41.18m).
Blomquist registered two third-place finishes, having success in both shot put (16.20m;53' 1.75") and discus (53.03m; 174'). Zagurski took eighth (14.76m) and seventh (45.89m) in the events, respectively.
The 4x400m relay closed out the afternoon, which saw Southeast's men take second with a time of 3:22.15.
The Redhawks will return to action next weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational. The two-day is currently set to begin at 11am on Friday, April 21.
