CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri (10-4, 2-1) collected its second consecutive Ohio Valley Conference win when it beat Belmont (3-12, 1-3), 4-3, Sunday.
"Our team did a tremendous job today of being mentally tough and patient on the court," said head coach
Mary Beth Gunn. "We came out aggressive in doubles and carried the momentum over into singles play."
The Redhawks claimed the doubles point to open the match, winning at the top two positions.
Isabella Krupa and
Oleksandra Doroshenko picked up the win at the top of the lineup, beating Warren and Whitehead, 6-2.
Kseniya Zonova and
Anais Emelie defeated Kent and Van Eeckhoudt in a decisive, 6-1, battle.
Mila Majtan and
Ana Canahuate-Torres dropped their match, 6-2, at the No. 3 spot.

Zonova began singles play with a 6-1, 6-1, victory over Van Eeckhoudt at the No. 3 position. Emelie (No. 6) followed just behind, taking her match, 6-2, 6-3. Majtan (No. 5) and Warasanti (No. 4) fell in their matches, as Southeast's lead closed to 3-2. Doroshenko clinched the match at No. 2 with a thrilling, 6-3, 7-5 victory. Krupa played tough at the top of the lineup, but fell in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 4-6.
