CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri (9-4, 1-1) picked up its first Ohio Valley Conference victory of the season with a 5-2 win over Tennessee State (6-3, 0-3) Friday.
"It's a great feeling having a conference win under our belt," said head coach
Mary Beth Gunn. "It's a good confidence boost for our team going into our match against Belmont later this weekend."

The Redhawks opened up the match taking down TSU in doubles, winning at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. At the top of the lineup,
Isabella Krupa and
Oleksandra Doroshenko shutout their opponents 6-0 to get the day started.
Mila Majtan and
Ana Canahuate-Torres followed with a 6-1 victory at the No. 3 spot.
Kseniya Zonova and
Anais Emelie were ahead, 5-2, but did not finish their match.

In singles play, Zonova and Doroshenko won at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions with identical scores of 6-1, 6-1 to give Southeast a 3-0 lead on the Tigers. Krupa (No. 1) and
Annisa Warasanti (No. 4) dropped their matches to bring TSU back within a point. Majtan clinched the victory at the No. 5 position, winning the matchup 6-4, 7-5. Emelie ended the match with a, 7-6, 6-2, win at the No. 6.
