JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Southeast Missouri women's basketball (10-13, 4-6) picked up its third conference road victory Wednesday afternoon at Jacksonville State (10-12, 3-7) with a 65-58 win over the Gamecocks.

The victory is the least amount of points scored by the Redhawks in a winning effort this season; it was previously 68 against Alcorn State.

Southeast was led by double-digit point performances of 15 points from
Bri Mitchell and 14 from
Ashton Luttrull. Both extend their double-digit scoring streaks to four and three, respectively. Mitchell also recorded six rebounds and six assists while Luttrull had a career-best seven rebounds with four made 3-pointers.

Adrianna Murphy finished as SEMO's rebounding leader with eight in the contest while adding seven points and four assists. It's the third game in a row that Murphy has finished either leading or co-leading the team in rebounds.

Deja Jones and
Mandy Madden contributed eight points each on Wednesday while combining for 10 rebounds.

Southeast recorded its highest shooting percentage since UT Martin (Jan. 14), picking up a 44.6 shooting clip. The Redhawks dominated the boards, outrebounding the Gamecocks 47-30. SEMO's 13 offensive rebounds resulted in 11 second-chance points in the Redhawks' favor.

SEMO's 21 turnovers resulted in 20 points off turnovers for Jacksonville State in the game. Â

It was a slow first quarter but SEMO came out on top in the end by a couple, 10-8. Southeast started the frame 4-0 and never trailed in the opening stanza. Jacksonville State worked to tie the game at eight all but Madden scored a transition foul-line jumper on the other end to give the Redhawks the 10-8 advantage after the first 10 minutes.

Murphy and Madden each had four points. The Redhawks outrebounded the Gamecocks 16-8 in the quarter.

The Redhawk offense had a slow start to the second quarter, falling behind by six, 19-13. SEMO began got hot on the offensive end of the court to finish the quarter on a 14-2 run over the final 5:21, holding JSU scoreless for nearly five minutes. Luttrull ignited the run with back-to-back 3-pointers to tie the contest at 19.

The first half ended with the Redhawks out in front, 27-21. Madden and Luttrull each had a team-high six points for the Redhawks. Murphy was the Redhawks' leading rebounder with five boards in the first half while Luttrull pulled in four.

Southeast shot 38 percent in the opening half while limiting JSU to a 27 percent shooting clip. Southeast dominated the boards in the first 20 minutes, outrebounding the Gamecocks 26-15. The Redhawks were marred by 13 turnovers that JSU cashed in for 13 points.

Jacksonville State outscored the Redhawks 19-15 in the third quarter to narrow the SEMO lead to two going into the fourth. Southeast found a nine-point lead at 32-23 early in the period but seven-straight JSU points quickly cut the deficit. The teams went back-and-forth the remainder of the quarter to end with SEMO narrowly out in front, 42-40.

Just like the third quarter,
Kaley Leyhue kicked off the fourth with a 3-pointer. From that point on, the score was tied three times and the lead changed hands a whopping six times in about five minutes. Tied at 58, Mitchell scored back-to-back jumpers to put SEMO back up by four, 62-58. JSU began fouling with 16 seconds to play but Murphy went 3-for-4 from the line to keep the Gamecocks at bay long enough to hold on for the 65-58 victory.

Jacksonville State was led by 12-point performances from Lacey Buchanon and Gretchen Morrison. Tyler Phelion pulled in a game-high 10 rebounds while also adding five points for JSU.

Southeast Missouri will take the floor at the Show Me Center Saturday at 2 p.m. when Morehead State comes to Cape Girardeau.
