CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics announced today their schedule for the upcoming 2018 season. The Redhawks are set to host five meets and travel to seven away meets in the regular season.
Â
"Our schedule this season provides us with a great opportunity to qualify into post-season competition," head coach
Kristi Ewasko said. "We have a great balance of teams both home and away that will push us to be our best week in and week out."
Â
The gymnastics team will start their 43rd campaign in Lexington, Kentucky on Friday, Jan. 5 with a meet against George Washington, Ball State and host school, Kentucky, of the SEC.
Â
"Starting the season at Kentucky will challenge our training to be prepared right away," Ewasko said. "We won't have the luxury of struggling and knowing that we can drop the first score of the season; the focus is on setting our expectations high at Kentucky and then be able to continue to grow and improve as the season progresses."

Southeast then opens its Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) slate the next week with home meets against Illinois State and Lindenwood at Houck Field House. SEMO faces the Redbirds on Friday, Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m. and then takes on three-time defending MIC Champion, Lindenwood, on Monday, Jan. 15 at 4 p.m.
