CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Southeast Missouri (1-15, 0-6) dropped a 7-0 decision to Murray State (8-8, 3-3) Saturday afternoon at the Redhawks Tennis Complex.
Southeast lost
Anais Emelie before the start of the match and was forced to forfeit the bottom flights in both doubles and singles.
Mila Majtan and
Isabella Krupa lost, 6-1, to Erin Patton and Haily Morgan in the No. 1 position.
Emilia Montenegro and
Ana Canahuate-Torres fell at No. 2, 6-1, to Megan Blue and Amina Hadzic.
Annisa Warasanti was also forced to forfeit, giving Jeanne Masson and Alina Schibol the victory at the bottom of the lineup.
In singles play, every Southeast player fell in straight sets. Krupa opened at the top of the lineup with a, 7-6, 6-2, loss to Blue. Majtan put up a fight in the first set against Hadzic but fell, 6-4, 6-0, at the No. 2 position. At No. 3, Warasanti dropped her match, 6-0, 6-2, to Morgan. Montenegro (No. 4) and Canahuate-Torres (No. 5) lost their matches, 6-1, 6-4, and 6-2, 6-2, respectively.
"Not having a full lineup today really hurt us," said Southeast head coach Mary Beth Gunn. "We will take time this week to get everyone healthy for our Ohio Valley Conference matches next weekend."
Southeast returns to action when it hosts Eastern Kentucky on Apr. 8.
