Tennis Closes Out Season This Weekend

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Southeast Missouri (1-17, 0-8) closes out its spring season with a pair of Ohio Valley Conference matches this weekend. The Redhawks travel to Belmont (2-14, 0-8) Saturday and Tennessee State (8-10, 1-6) Sunday.

"We are looking to finish strong in our last matches," said Southeast head coach Mary Beth Gunn. "We are playing the other two teams who are at the bottom of the conference. My team is hungry to get a couple of conference wins and end the season on a positive note."

The Redhawks are looking to snap a 16-match losing streak. Isabella Krupa and Mila Majtan lead the team with five singles victories each. Since taking over the No. 1 position, Krupa has a 1-3 record with her win coming against Morehead State's Ayaka Terashi.

Belmont is currently riding a 12-match losing streak and also looks to collect its first conference win. The Bruins lost to Tennessee State back on Mar. 24, as the Tigers posted their first-ever OVC win. Suzanna Stapler and Laura Van Eeckhoudt lead the Bruins with four singles wins.

TSU is having its best OVC season in program history, collecting its first conference win to go along with eight total victories this spring. The Tigers are on a five-match losing streak, with four sweeps in that span. TSU is led by Pragati Natraj who has seven singles victories on the season.

Both matches this weekend are set for 10 a.m., CT.
