Let's Recap
Southeast Missouri opened the 2016 home schedule this past weekend with a three-game set against Central Arkansas. The Redhawks shutout the Bears in game one of the series, 6-0, behind seven scoreless innings by Joey Lucchesi. Game two was a pitcher's duel through and through. Clay Chandler tossed eight shutout innings and struck out 14 hitters along the way as the Bears' Cody Davenport  pitched a complete game shutout. UCA plated the game's lone run in the top of the ninth en route to the 1-0 victory. The Redhawks came out victorious in the rubber game of the series on Sunday. The Redhawks held a 4-0 lead after three innings and held on to take the series with a 6-2 victory.

What's Ahead
The Redhawks will travel to Eastern Kentucky this weekend to begin Ohio Valley Conference play. The Redhawks will take on EKU in a three-game series beginning Friday from Richmond, Kentucky. The Redhawks will return to the Show Me State for a midweek series at Missouri next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Series History
In the all-time series, Southeast is 2-14 against Ole Miss. It's been nearly five years since the Redhawks and Rebels met in Oxford. Southeast has defeated Ole Miss twice in its history: Feb. 24, 1999 (1-0) and Feb. 18, 2001 (5-2). This week's two-game series will be the first series played since March 15-16, 2005. The Redhawks will look to snap a five-game losing streak to the Rebels.

Keep the National Recognition Coming
Junior right-handed pitcher Clay Chandler has been named Louisville Slugger National Pitcher of the Week by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper as well as earning his second adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week honor this season. Chandler picked up co-pitcher of the week accolades two weeks ago and Joey Lucchesi earned OVC and national honors last week. Chandler threw eight scoreless innings in his third start of the season against Central Arkansas Saturday. Chandler allowed just two hits while striking out 14 hitters and allowing zero walks. At one point, Chandler struck out eight-straight hitters. Chandler suffered a no decision after UCA plated the lone run of the game in the top of the ninth inning off a Redhawk reliever.

Three Consecutive OVC Pitchers of the Week
The Redhawks have had an OVC Pitcher of the Week each of the first three weeks of the season. Clay Chandler has earned the honor twice (Feb. 22, Mar. 7) and Joey Lucchesi earned it once (Feb. 29). No team in the OVC has ever earned three-straight pitchers of the week to begin a season until now.

Bieser Against the SEC
In his four years as head coach at Southeast Missouri, Steve Bieser is 3-4 against the Southeastern Conference. Southeast has two wins over Missouri and a win over Arkansas. Last season, Southeast went 2-1 against SEC opponents. Jacob Lawrence earned his lone win last season against then nationally-ranked Missouri.

Key Two-Out Hitting
The Redhawk offense has capitalized on two-out situations in the 11 games this season. In all, the Redhawks have scored 65 runs on the season, 57 of which were driven in. With two out, Southeast has recorded 22 runs batted in this season, 39% of the Redhawks' total RBI. The Redhawks have 33 two-out hits this season.

Going Streaking
Dan Holst is currently riding an 11-game hitting streak, having recorded hits in every game this season. Trevor Ezell, and Garrett Gandolfo join Holst in having reached base safely in all 11 games. Extending back to last season, Ezell's on base streak is now 18.
