ST. LOUIS, Mo. --Â Southeast Missouri (1-9) lost to Maryville University (3-3) by a score of 4-2 Tuesday night.
Southeast lost at all three doubles positions to start the match.
Mariya Kostiuk and
Anais Emelie came up short against Puck Vlaskamp and Rebekah Anderson in the No. 1 position, 8-7.
Viviana Ortiz paired with
Ana Canahuate-Torres and fell, 8-6, at the No. 2 spot.
Mila Majtan and
Isabella Krupa rounded out doubles play with an 8-4 loss to MU's Sarah Etler and Andrea Fandino.
Krupa (No. 2) and Majtan (No. 3) tallied wins for Southeast in singles play. Krupa bested Fandino in two sets, 6-3, 6-4. Majtan then took care of Vlaskamp, 6-1, 6-2. Kostiuk lost a hard-fought three-set match, 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, to Etler at the top of the lineup. Warasanti (No. 4) and Emelie (No. 5) each dropped their matches in a tiebreaker.
Southeast opens Ohio Valley Conference play this weekend at Eastern Illinois (Mar. 18) and SIUE (Mar. 19).  Â
