YPSILANTI, Mich. --Â The Southeast Missouri gymnastics team placed third in Thurday's tri meet with a score of 191.800. Eastern Michigan won the meet with a 196.250, while Central Michigan placed second with a 194.125. Sophomore
Alexis Brawner added her 17th event title of the season, picking up the win on vault.
The Redhawks started the meet on beam and came away with a 47.075. Sophomore
McKenna Stanley and junior
Alyssa Tucker each posted a 9.725 to lead the way for Southeast. Senior
Taylor Penzien added a 9.600 to finish third on the squad. Junior
Lauren Israel and Brawner rounded out the rotation with scores of 9.050 and 8.975, respectively.
Moving to the second rotation, Southeast posted a 48.075 on floor. Freshman
McKinzie Jones and Brawner paced the squad with a score of 9.700. Tucker and sophomore Brittany Hadj-Romdhane each made their debuts on floor, posting scores of 9.600 and 9.575. Israel rounded out the top-five with a score of 9.500.
On vault, the Redhawks collected a team score of 47.975. Brawner paced the squad with a huge 9.850. Junior
Ashley Thomas came in second on the team with a 9.650. Stanley finished just behind with a 9.575. Freshman
Allyson Bell, Israel and Jones each posted a score of 9.450 to finish up the rotation for Southeast.
Southeast closed out the competition with a big performance on bars. The squad posted a 48.675 to end their night. Tucker paced the Redhawks with a season-best 9.800. Brawner, Israel and Penzien each tied for second on the team with a score of 9.750. Stanley closed out the top-five with a 9.625.
The Redhawks will close out their season on Mar. 19, when they come home to host the Midwest Independent Conference tournament. The meet is set to begin at 4 p.m., CT.
