Let's Recap
Southeast Missouri baseball went 4-0 on the road last week. The Redhawks began the week putting up 17 runs in the 17-4 victory over Alcorn State. Southeast continued its road swing at Arkansas-Pine Bluff over the weekend. Southeast put up 27 runs in the three-game sweep of the Golden Lions while only allowing four runs all weekend. The pitching staff finished the series with a 1.00 ERA, allowing just three earned runs and holding the Golden Lions to a .192 batting average.

What's Ahead
Southeast will welcome Central Arkansas in the home opener March 4-6. First pitch of Friday's home opener is set for 3 p.m. from Capaha Field. The series against Central Arkansas will be the only home games before the Redhawks head back on the road for seven straight games. The seven game road stretch will feature two games at Ole Miss, the start of Ohio Valley Conference play at Eastern Kentucky, and two games at in-state foe Missouri.

National, OVC Pitcher of the Week
Senior left-handed pitcher Joey Lucchesi has been tabbed Louisville Slugger National Pitcher of the Week by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper as well as the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week following his stellar outing on Friday. Lucchesi pitched seven perfect innings in Southeast Missouri's 10-0 victory at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday afternoon. He did not allow a base runner and retired all 21 batters he faced. Lucchesi struck out 11 in picking up his first victory of the season. It is Lucchesi's fourth weekly honor of his career.

Key Two-Out Hitting
The Redhawk offense has capitalized on two-out situations in their seven games this season. 40% of the Redhawks' runs batted in have come with two out this season. With two out and runners on, Southeast is hitting .304.

Going Streaking
Branden Boggetto and Dan Holst are currently riding seven-game hitting streaks, having recorded hits in every game this season. Trevor Ezell and Garrett Gandolfo join Boggetto and Holst in having reached base safely in all seven games. Extending back to last season, Boggetto's on-base streak is now at 31 games while Ezell's is 14.

Scouting the Southern Illinois Salukis
The Salukis are coming off a sweep of Western Illinois at home this past weekend. SIU gave up one run in Friday's 4-1 victory but went on to shutout the Leathernecks in back-to-back 9-0 wins on Saturday and Sunday. Southern Illinois is hitting .271 as a team through seven games this season. Dylin Mucha is leading the squad with a .455 batting average in 11 at bats. Logan Blackfan is hitting .357 with five doubles, a home run, and has driven in five with a .643 slugging percentage. Wednesday's starter RHP Bryce Sablothy has made one start this season. Austin Peay pegged Sablothy for seven runs, all earned, on eight hits in four innings on Feb. 23. He walked none and struck out two in the start. He gave up two doubles, a triple, and two home runs to the Governors.

First OVC Pitcher of the Week
Junior right-handed pitcher Clay Chandler was tabbed as the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday. Chandler made his first Redhawk start in Saturday's game at Lamar. He allowed one run in the first inning but quickly settled in. After allowing the one run, he retired the next 14 straight hitters he faced. He pitched eight complete innings, allowing one run on two hits and fanned 10 total batters, walking only two. A walkoff single in the bottom of the 10th inning resulted in a no decision for Chandler.

One Hundred for the Skipper
Fourth-year head coach Steve Bieser earned his 100th career victory at the helm of the Redhawks with Monday's 17-4 win over Alcorn State.

You're Here A Lot
Senior right-handed pitcher Alex Siddle is on track to break Southeast's all-time appearances record. Siddle has appeared in 69 games in a Redhawk uniform. He currently ranks tied for third on the list. Siddle's 69 appearances ranks 22nd among active college players in pitching appearances. The Southeast record, held by Jason Swearingen (1995-98) is 76 appearances. Siddle has averaged 22 appearances each season of his three-year career.

Doubling Down
Currently at 45 career doubles, Branden Boggetto needs five doubles to crack the career top-10 list at Southeast Missouri. Boggetto ranks eighth among all active NCAA DI players in the category. Boggetto nearly broke the single-season doubles record in 2015 with 23, which ranked sixth nationally a season ago. The career record is 68 (Zach Borowiak, 2000-03).
