BOWLING GREEN, Ohio --Â Southeast Missouri's gymnastics team placed third Saturday evening, scoring a 192.800 in a tri-meet against Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan. EMU took first with a season-best 196.600. BGSU also scored a season-high with a 195.425, taking second place. Sophomore
Alexis Brawner finished in third place in the all-around with a 38.925.
The Redhawks began the evening on the beam. They tallied a 48.175 team score. Junior
Lauren Israel led the squad with a 9.800, tying a season-high. Freshman
McKinzie Jones finished in second with a 9.675. Junior
Ashley Thomas placed third on the team, finishing with a score of 9.625. Senior
Taylor Penzien and Sophomore
Alexis Brawner rounded out the top-five with scores of 9.550 and 9.525, respectively.
In the second rotation, Southeast posted a 48.400 on floor. Three Redhawks scored a 9.700 or higher. Jones tallied a team-best 9.825. Brawner finished just behind with a score of 9.775. Thomas accumulated a 9.700 for her routine. Israel scored a 9.575 while freshman
Jordan Clark finished with a 9.525.
During the third rotation, the Redhawks posted a season-best 48.325 on vault. Brawner and Thomas each scored a 9.800 to lead the team. This marked a season-high for Thomas. Israel finished in third with a score of 9.600. Jones competed for the first time on vault this season and scored a 9.550. Sophomore
McKenna Stanley closed out the top-five with a 9.525.
Southeast finished the meet on bars. They accumulated a team score of 47.900. The squad saw two stellar performances from Israel and Brawner, both scoring season-highs with scores of 9.85 and 9.825, respectively. Junior
Alyssa Tucker competed for the first time this season and posted a solid 9.75 to finish third on the team. Penzien finished fourth with a 9.25, while Jones completed her first all-around performance with a 9.225.
