Redhawks Handle Bisons in 79-63 Victory

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's basketball (5-5) turned in a +34-rebounding margin en route to a 79-63 victory over Lipscomb University (1-8) on Tuesday evening at the Show Me Center.

The Redhawks hauled in 32 offensive rebounds that resulted in 30 total second-chance points on Tuesday. In all, SEMO had 59 rebounds, falling just five short of the program record of 64 (UT Martin, Dec. 1, 1990).

SEMO's back-to-back wins are the first this season.

For the fourth time this season and the second game in a row, Hannah Noe led SEMO with 18 points, her season high. She drained four 3-point buckets in the game bringing her to 80 in her career and tying her for 10th on SEMO's top-10 list.

Bri Mitchell and Olivia Hackmann were the other two Redhawks to reach double-figure scoring, each contributing 14 points in the contest. They each had six field goals with Hackmann adding two from downtown.

Mandy Madden led the Redhawks in rebounding, tying a season high with 12. Eight of her 12 came on the offensive end of the court. Adrianna Murphy set a career-high with 11 boards on Tuesday. Reversely, seven of hers were on the defensive end of the court.

Deja Jones played 18 minutes off the bench and fell just short of a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds (ties season high) and eight points. Jones grabbed seven offensive boards for the Redhawks.

Southeast quickly found a 5-0 lead but fell into a lull for almost four minutes as the Bisons tied the game up at five. Southeast got the offense going, rattling off a 9-2 run to open a seven-point lead. The first quarter ended with SEMO on top 16-12.

The Redhawks fired off six unanswered points to begin the second quarter. Up 27-20, Noe and Hackmann went back-to-back from 3-point range to split open a 13-point lead, Southeast's largest of the half. The Bisons were able to make it an eight-point game late in the half but Murphy drained a jumper as time expired to make it a 10-point game at half, 35-25.

Mitchell's six second-quarter points moved her into the point lead with eight at half. Madden added a couple boards in the second to lead the team with seven.

As a team, Southeast pulled in 13 offensive rebounds, resulting in 15 second-chance points for the Redhawks in the first half. The Redhawks season-high was 17 second-chance points set in the opener on Nov. 11 against Cincinnati.
