CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's basketball (1-1) defeated Hannibal-LaGrange Monday evening at the Show Me Center, 99-52.

Of the eight Redhawks who played on Monday, six scored double-digit points while the other two either had double-digit assists or rebounds.

Deja Jones picked up a career-high 24 points in the game to lead the team. It was the second 20-point game of her career.
Hannah Noe,
Hilma Mededovic, and
Iyanna McCurdy all scored 14 points while
Mandy Madden and
Bri Mitchell registered 10.

Sophomore point guard
Adrianna Murphy dished out a career-best 14 assists while
Lakyn Gulley pulled in 12 rebounds. Murphy finished just shy of a triple-double, finishing with nine rebounds and seven points.

As a team, Southeast shot 41-of-66 from the field (62.1%), and 7-of-15 from beyond the arc (46.7%). The Redhawks outrebounded the Trojans, 48-31.

Southeast jumped out to an 8-0 lead on the Trojans in just over a minute into the game. The Redhawks led by as much as 21 in the opening stanza. The Redhawks nearly held the Trojans scoreless the final four minutes as they went on to rattle off 11 unanswered points before Hannibal-LaGrange scored with six seconds left. At the end of the quarter, Southeast led 31-12.

Noe had already tipped the double-digit mark in the frame, putting up 11 points with three 3-pointers. She would finish the game with 14 points, hitting four buckets from 3-point range.

The Redhawks outscored the Trojans 23-16 in the second quarter to hold a commanding 26-point lead at halftime, 54-28. SEMO ended the half with five unanswered points, highlighted by an offensive putback by Jones as time expired.

Jones led the way in the scoring column in the second, recording 12 total points. At halftime, she had a team-leading 16 points and seven rebounds.

The third quarter was much closer than the first two as Southeast won the frame, 20-12. Madden was the top scorer in the third quarter with five points while Gulley pulled in five boards.

Southeast finished strong in the final quarter, outscoring HLGU 25-12. McCurdy picked up eight of her 14 points in the frame while Jones tipped her career mark with six in the quarter. The Redhawks shot a game-best 62.1% (11-of-14) from the field in the final quarter.

Southeast scored nearly 57 percent of its points on Monday in the paint with 56. The SEMO bench scored 34 total points led by Mededovic and McCurdy.

Maritza Chavez led the way for the Trojans on Monday with 12 points and eight rebounds. Emma Penn (11) and Kenna Greenway (10) also tipped the double-digit point marks.

Southeast Missouri will host Western Illinois along with over two thousand area school children in this year's Classroom on the Court game Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Show Me Center.Â
