Final Results

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southeast Missouri (0-9) fell to regional-rival Southern Illinois (6-6) by a score of 7-0 Saturday morning.

Southeast was shutout for the fifth time this season and remained winless on the road this year.

Mariya Kostyuk and Maria Montenegro were defeated in close three-set singles matches. Kostyuk beat Natasha Tomishima, 6-4, in the first set before falling, 4-6, 0-1 (1-6) at No. 1. Montenegro dropped her first set against Gisela Cairo Baza, 3-6, but forced a tiebreaker with a 6-4 victory at the No. 5 position. Montenegro came up short in the third set, 0-1 (6-10).

SIU posted wins in all three doubles spots to finish off its fifth-consecutive victory at home.

The Redhawks open Ohio Valley Conference play at Murray State on Mar. 13.
