Photo GalleryCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri posted a 193.300 overall score against Northern Illinois on Friday evening at Houck Field House.
Ashley Thomas won the all-around with a 39.025 total. The Huskies finished with a team total of 195.400 to win the dual.
"Ultimately, I'm proud of our team for coming back on floor after a tough beam rotation," head coach
Kristi Ewasko said. "We had a few uncharacteristic mistakes that we will focus on minimizing and eliminating from here on out.
"I'm really proud of Ashley's continued dedication and commitment to helping her team whenever asked."
Thomas tied for the vault title with a 9.850, which tied her career-best. She now has 11 event titles in her career, which is the most on the team. She has a team-leading 25 scores of 9.700 or higher in 2015 and 41 in her career.
The Redhawks opened on vault and posted a 48.500, highlighted by Thomas, who tied a career-high with a 9.850. It marked the second consecutive meet and third time this season Thomas has scored 9.800 or better.
Alexis Brawner recorded a 9.800 while
Bailey Walker posted a 9.725.
Northern Illinois began on uneven bars and scored 48.800, led by a 9.825 from Jamyra Carter and 9.800 by Ashley Potts.
Southeast then moved to bars, where the Redhawks recorded the second-best total of 48.625.
Taylor Penzien scored a season-high 9.800 while
Lauren Israel added a season-best 9.775.
The Huskies registered a 48.850 on vault, paced by a 9.850 by Amanda Stepp. Potts recorded a 9.750 while Megan Greenfield and Kelly Nortz scored 9.725.
In the third rotation, the Redhawks totaled 47.650 on balance beam.
Taylor Penzien made her season debut with a team-high 9.775.
Alexandria Stokes added a 9.725.
NIU recorded a 48.825 on floor exercise, led by a 9.825 from Courtney Dowdell. Brittany Wenzel added a 9.800.
Southeast wrapped up the meet with a 48.525 on floor exercise.
Chelsi Hamilton tied a season-high with a 9.775 to lead the way.
The Redhawks will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 28 at Ohio State. The meet is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. from St. John Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
