Redhawks Post Season-Best 194.550 in Win Over Texas Woman’s

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri recorded its highest total of the season in a 194.550-190.825 victory over Texas Woman's on Sunday afternoon at Houck Field House. The Redhawks scored over 48.000 on each event for the second time this season. Ashley Thomas won the all-around with a 39.100, the highest score of her career.
 
"Overall, the score and performance speaks for itself," head coach Kristi Ewasko said. "I told the girls on Friday that having back-to-back meets could be a great thing or a bad thing. This shows the fight this team has and what they want out of this season."
 
Alyssa Tucker won the uneven bars and floor exercise titles with scores of 9.825. She now has 10 event victories in her career. Tucker established a new career-high on floor and tied her career-best on bars. She has a team-leading 42 scores of 9.700 in her career, including 17 in 2015.
 
Thomas won the vault and balance beam titles with scores of 9.825. The beam score was the highest of her career. She increased career event victory total to eight. Thomas now has a team-high 22 scores of 9.700 or better this season and increased her career total to 38.
 
The Redhawks started the meet on vault and scored 48.600. Bailey Walker made her season debut with a 9.750 while Alexis Brawner recorded a 9.725. Jordan Clark added a career-best 9.600.
 
Southeast then moved to bars, where they scored 48.575. Taylor Penzien registered a 9.725 and Thomas added a 9.700.
 
During the third rotation on beam, the Redhawks recorded a 48.700, the second-highest total of the season. Lauren Israel tied a season-best with a 9.800 while Tucker contributed a 9.750. Chelsi Hamilton set a career-high with a 9.700.
 
To close out the meet, Southeast finished with a season-high 48.675 on floor. Thomas scored 9.750 while Clark added a second career-best of the afternoon with a 9.725. Israel added a 9.700 as the Redhawks wrapped up the win in dominating fashion.
 
Southeast will return to action at home on Friday against Northern Illinois. The events will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the meet will be broadcast live on the OVC Digital Network for those unable to attend.
