Open SeasonThe 2015 Southeast Missouri baseball season will open Friday, Feb. 13 at home against Bowling Green. The Redhawks and Falcons will play a three-game series at Capaha Field. The first pitch of Friday's doubleheader will be at 1 p.m. Saturday's game is slated to start at noon. All three games can be heard live on SEMO ESPN 1220 AM.

OVC FavoritesThe Southeast Missouri baseball team was picked to win the Ohio Valley Conference in 2015. The Redhawks received 12 first-place votes of the 22 cast by the league's head coaches and sports information directors. The Redhawks finished the season 23-7 in OVC play en route to their first OVC Regular Season title since 2002. Overall, Southeast won 37 contests last season, tying the program record for wins. The OVC Preseason Player of the Year is Tennessee Tech's Dylan Bosheers and the OVC Preseason Pitcher of the Year is Brock Downey from Murray State. Hayes and Downey were Co-Pitchers of the Year in 2014.

Preseason All-OVC TeamThe reigning OVC Co-Pitcher of the Year,
Travis Hayes, was selected to the Preseason All-OVC team. Hayes was 8-2 overall with a 3.23 earned run average in 17 appearances during his first season in a Redhawk uniform.

Preseason All-AmericanSenior third baseman
Andy Lennington has been named Third Team Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Lennington, a native of Franklin, Tennessee, was a .312 hitter in 2014 and started 56 games as the Redhawks' third baseman. He had 72 hits with a team-leading 18 doubles and five triples. Lennington ranks sixth in career triples with nine in his career. Lennington knocked in 45 runs, third highest on last year's squad. He boasted a .433 slugging percentage and .336 on-base percentage. He also swiped nine bases on the season. Lennington tallied 20 multiple hits games and 11 multiple RBI games.

OVC Scholar-AthleteJason Blum was chosen as one of six OVC student-athletes to be awarded the prestigious OVC Scholar-Athlete Award. Blum started every game at second base and was the leadoff hitter every game in 2014. He ranks in Southeast's top-ten categories in single season runs (60), walks (38), hit by pitch (18), and stolen bases (23), all in 2014. In the classroom, Blum has a 4.0 grade point average as a finance major and has already begun working on his Masters in Business Administration (MBA). Last season he earned third-team CoSIDA Academic All-American honors in addition to earning the OVC Medal of Honor and appearing on the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll, the Dean's List and being a Southeast Scholar-Athlete. Blum has earned the OVC Medal of Honor three times and has been CoSIDA Academic All-District twice.

Going StreakingJason Blum ended his junior season on a 116-game start streak. He started every game as a sophomore in 2013 and again in 2014.
Dalton Hewitt ended the season on a 12-game hitting streak and a 13-game reached base safely streak.

2015 Schedule SnapshotThe 52-game slate will kick off Feb. 13 at home against Bowling Green in a three-game series. A total 27 games are slated to be played at Capaha Field. 13 of the first 14 games of the season will be held at home. The Ohio Valley Conference portion of the schedule will begin at home against Eastern Kentucky the weekend of Mar. 6. Two Southeastern Conference opponents appear on the 2015 schedule in Arkansas, Mar. 17-18, and a single game at Missouri on May 5. Southeast will play five Missouri Valley opponents in 12 games in 2015.

2014 OVC ChampionsSoutheast Missouri clinched the 2014 Ohio Valley Conference Regular Season Championship at Tennessee Tech May 9. This is Southeast's second regular season championship; their first since 2002. 2014 is also the first 30-win season Southeast has had since 2011 when the team finished 34-22. The record for wins in a season at Southeast is 37, set back in 2000 and 2002. Southeast's 23 OVC wins this season was an win short of tying a conference record for league wins in a season, set by Tennessee Tech in 2013.

Looking AheadThe Redhawks will continue their season-opening home stand when they welcome Illinois State Feb. 20-22. The Redhawks will then hit the road for their first road game at Arkansas State Feb. 24.
