PDF VersionCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri (6-5) coasted to a 7-0 victory over Western Illinois (0-9) on a gorgeous day at the Redhawks Tennis Complex Tuesday.
Southeast, which earned its second-straight win, recorded its second shutout in a row. As a result, the Redhawks have posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time since the 2006-07 season -- 9-0 vs. Huntington (Mar. 21); 9-0 vs. Sioux Falls (Mar. 22).
"I thought it was a great team win," said Southeast head coach
Leah Hottois. "Everybody did what they had to do to be successful."

Ekaterina Donetckova,
Annisa Warasanti,
Melissa Martin and
Katy Brady all turned in singles victories. Kashina beat Jenna Wallace, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 1; Nagovitcina defeated Nicole Jones, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 2; Donetckova took care of Jessica Callahan, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3; Warasanti blanked Andriana Johnson, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4; Martin won her fourth-straight singles match with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Ese Davis at No. 5; and Brady downed Jamee Hale, 7-6, 6-0, at No. 6.
The Redhawks secured the doubles point with wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Martin and
Heather Robinson beat Callahan and Johnson, 8-0, at No. 2, while Warasanti and Nagovitcina defeated Davis and Melissa Alger, 8-0, at No. 3. The No. 1 doubles match between Kashina/Donetckova and Wallace/Jones was unfinished.
WIU was shutout for the ninth-consecutive time this season.
Southeast opens Ohio Valley Conference play at Belmont (Mar. 15) and Tennessee State (Mar. 16) this weekend.
