SHREVEPORT, La. – The Southeast Missouri gymnastics team used strong results on the bars and vault to claim its fourth-straight victory Friday night against Centenary in Shreveport, La.
The Redhawks dueled with the Ladies to a 191.750-189.700 score.
"We had some athletes step up tonight when this team needed it most," Southeast head coach
Kristi Ewasko said. "I'm proud of our vault and bar teams as they continue to be consistent.
"The floor was decent as we had some changes in our lineup. Our beam continues to struggle, so we are looking to make some big lineup changes for Sunday and see how it goes!"
The Redhawks claimed three event titles, led by
Megan Fosnow, who scored a 9.85 on the bars, tying a career-best.
Southeast scored a 48.775 on the bars as
Taryn Vanderpool earned a 9.8,
Taylor Penzien scored a 9.725 and freshmen
Alyssa Tucker and
Lauren Israel scored a 9.700.
On the vault, the Redhawks second rotation, freshman
Bailey Walker won the event with a 9.800, tying her personal-best.
The vault team earned a 48.550 as Fosnow, Vanderpool and
Ashley Thomas each scored a 9.700.
On the floor exercise, Southeast earned scored a 48.400 led by Walker, who was named event champion with a 9.775. Fosnow and Thomas each scored a 9.75.
Alyssa Tucker led Southeast on the beam with a 9.600 as Robyn Price of Centenary claimed the Ladies only event win with a 9.700.
"Overall, it was a strong three events tonight and now we are looking forward to making immediate adjustments and come out a stronger team for Sunday," Ewasko said.
The Redhawks stay on the road as they travel to Denton, Texas, for a triangular with Texas Woman's and Centenary. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
