Let's Do ThisSoutheast Missouri baseball will open the 2014 season against the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles in a three-game series beginning Feb. 14 in Tulsa, Okla. Last season, ORU came to Cape Girardeau and took two-of-three from the Redhawks. The Redhawks will be looking to kick the season off on the right foot with a series win over a very good Oral Roberts team.
OVC Preseason PollThe Southeast Missouri Redhawks were picked to finish sixth in the Ohio Valley Conference in 2014. The Redhawks had no picks to the Preseason All-OVC team.
Southeast Missouri was picked eighth in 2013 but exceeded expectations in

2014 Roster BreakdownThe 2014 roster is compiled of 35 men. Seven seniors are featured on the team but only five of which are returners. Of 14 juniors, seven are transfers to the team in 2014. The roster is rounded out by eight sophomores and six freshman. 19 players on the team are from right here in Missouri.
Advantage: RedhawksSoutheast has an advantage in 2014 in that the Redhawks return all eight positional starters from last season, as well as the designated hitter. Southeast did take a large hit on the pitching staff as only five pitchers return; two of which sat out last year due to injury.
2013 Round-UpSoutheast Missouri finished the 2013 season with an overall record of 26-33 and a 13-17 OVC record. The Redhawks extended their league-leading 19-consecutive OVC Tournament appearance streak in 2013 after earning the No. 6 seed. Southeast went 2-2 in the post-season. Then freshman,
Clayton Evans was the only Redhawk to pick up a post-season conference honor when he was named to the All-Newcomer Team. Evans was also named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American.
You Look FamiliarAfter sitting out the 2013 season with Tommy John Surgery, junior
Christian Hull will return to the mound as the Redhawks' Saturday starter. Hull pitched in 19 games in 2012 as a sophomore while recording a 5.01 ERA and 4-7 record. Pitched 70.0 innings and struck out 61 batters.
The 'Sooner', the BetterThree transfers this season (
Tyler Iago,
Ryan Lenaburg,
Greg Mosel) will all be heavily looked upon to be contributors to the Redhawks pitching staff in 2014. All three pitchers come to Southeast from Redlands CC in El Reno, Oklahoma. Both Iago and Lenaburg will be returning to their home state of Oklahoma when the Redhawks head to Oral Roberts.
International CuisineAustralian
Greg Mosel is the first international player on the Redhawk roster since 2008. Fellow Aussie Kieran Bradford was a catcher for Southeast during the '08 season. Bradford played in 30 games for Southeast.
Sophomore SeasonsBoth head coaches,
Steve Bieser and Ryan Folmer, are in their second seasons as head coach of each team. In fact, both recorded very similar records in their first seasons at the helm. Both were also assistant coaches in their respective programs before taking the head role.
What's on Tap? Southeast Missouri will open the home schedule at the friendly confines of Capaha Field, Feb. 18, against UALR. Harris-Stowe will travel south to Cape the following day. The five-game home stand will wrap-up with a three-game series with the IPFW Mastodons in the first home weekend series of the season.
