Setting the Table
The Southeast Missouri baseball team opens a five game homestand at Capaha Field on Tuesday evening against Southern Illinois at 5:00 p.m. It is the first game of a home and home series against the Salukis. Tuesday's game is also the first Redhawks Baseball Tailgate of the season brought to you by Bluff City Beer Company.
Redhawks Against SIU
The Salukis hold a 27-42-1 record all-time against the Redhawks. The two teams split last season's home and home series with each team taking contest on their home fields. The Redhawks won 4-1 on April 10, 2012 and fell 9-5 on April 24, 2012.
Born to Run
Southeast Missouri was 18-for-21 in stolen bases last week. The Redhawks stole 10 bases against SIUE on Saturday, it was the most in a game in the OVC since Austin Peay recorded 11 against Western Kentucky on April 6, 2006.
Clayton Evans recorded three stolen bases on the day. Evans' three stolen bases was the most by a Redhawk player since Tony Spencer did it against Alabama on February 21, 2009.
No Doubles Trouble
Southeast Missouri hit 16 doubles last week including a season-high six on Sunday against SIUE. The Redhawks lead the OVC in doubles with 74 on the season 10 more Tennessee Tech as they rank second. The Redhawks have recorded 28 doubles in their last eight contests.
Great When Late

Bobby Hurst is fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference is saves with five on the season He has also recorded a 2-0 record. Hurst has thrown 14.2 innings on the season and has an ERA of 0.61. He is tied for sixth all-time in career saves at Southeast with six. He is also for fourth in single season saves with five.
Preseason OVC Polls
The Southeast Missouri Baseball team was picked eighth in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll. Austin Peay, the OVC Co-Regular season and tournament champions in back-to-back seasons were picked to win the league with 14 first place votes. Southeast Missouri junior left fielder
Derek Gibson was named Preseason All-OVC after earning First-Team All-OVC last season by the coaches and sports information directors in the OVC.
