Scouting the Sycamores
The Sycamores will be taking on Southeast after having 10 days off. Indiana State finished 2-3 at the Bulldog Invitational in Athen, Ga., splitting with North Dakota State and Radford, falling to #23 Georgia. The Sycamores have three batters batting .300 or better through 19 games in 2013: Shelby Wilson (.446), Morgan Allee (.379), and Megan Stone (.345). The Sycamores, who are 9-10 this season, find themselves in sixth place in the Missouri Valley Conference standings. ISU is winless (0-4) in away games this season.

Series History
This will be the 13th and 14th meetings between the Redhawks and Sycamores. Southeast holds a 10-2 all-time series advantage over the Sycamores. These teams met last season in Terre Haute, Ind. on Mar. 13; Southeast picked up two wins, 4-0, 9-6.

Last Time Out
Southeast competed in the Evansville Invitational this past weekend where they went 1-3. Southeast fell to Bowling Green and Evansville Saturday before defeating Bowling Green and losing to Evansville on Sunday. Freshman Savannah Carpenter batted .400 in Evansville with a home run, boasting a .700 slugging pct. Simone Patterson had similar numbers as she batted .300 with a home run and a .700 slugging pct in the tournament.

Conference Play is Upon Us
Ohio Valley Conference play will begin this weekend, Mar. 16 & 17, in Murray, Ky. The Racers and Redhawks sit at the bottom of the West Division of the OVC, fifth and sixth places, respectively. Murray is currently 6-11 this season prior to conference play.

31 Years of Excellence
Lana Richmond is in her 31st season as the head coach of the Redhawks. Coach Richmond's career record at Southeast is 863-654-2. She is currently on her way to capturing her 600th NCAA Division I victory (590-514-2). The five-time Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year currently ranks 40th in victories of all NCAA division head coaches.

Ohio Valley Conference play begins March 16 at Murray State to begin Spring Break. Southeast Missouri hosts Georgia Tech on March 20 before traveling to Western Kentucky for a doubleheader on March 21, followed by a trip to Nashville, Tenn. to compete against East Division rivals Belmont (March 23) and Tennessee State (March 24).
