Redhawks Sweep Tennessee Tech in Doubleheader Friday, 9-2, 1-0

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri (19-28, 15-10) pushed its winning streak to five games with a 9-2, 1-0, doubleheader sweep of Tennessee Tech (16-32, 11-15) Friday at the Southeast Softball Complex.

SEMO used a five-run second inning to cruise by TTU in game one.

Tied, 2-2, Gracie Luna started off the bottom of the second with an infield single and Addy Martinie followed with a base hit to left. Sydney Miles advanced the runners on a sacrifice bunt. Luna later scored on a wild pitch and Kamden Hutton knocked in Martinie on a single to right.

With two outs, Aubrie Shore stepped in and smacked a three-run home run over the left field wall to extend SEMO's lead to 7-2.

The Redhawks added one more in fourth inning and another in the fifth to finish off the Golden Eagles.

Maddie Carney (6-12) went the distance allowing only two runs on four hits in seven innings. Carney struck out one, walked three and threw 99 pitches. It was her fifth complete game of the season.

The Redhawks registered 13 hits. Luna went 3-for-3 with a double. Hutton finished at 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, and Madison Winkler went 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

Raigan Brannon and Martinie contributed two hits each.

Addison Abell (3-5) took the loss for TTU. Abell was roughed up for seven runs on seven hits in just 1.2 innings.

Elliott Stinson and Emily York tangled in a nice pitcher's duel during game two.

In game two, Lily Delmain singled and pinch-runner Mary Tutwiler scored the game-winning run on an error in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Redhawks a one-run victory.

Tutwiler was on second base and advanced to third when Delmain singled. TTU's left fielder bobbled the ball and Tutwiler was able to score on the mishap.

Elliott Stinson no-hit the Golden Eagles for 5.2 innings before Alina Schlageter singled up the middle for the first of only two hits for TTU.

Willow Van Haren (5-7) combined with Stinson on the shutout pitching 2.1 scorless innings with three strikeouts.
Van Haren entered the game after Stinson worked 6.2 shutout innings with just two hits allowed and eight strikeouts. For Stinson, the eight strikeouts marked a career-high.

Emily York (8-14) took the loss. York gave up one run on seven hits, struck out four and walked two in 8.2 innings. She threw 121 pitches.

SEMO and TTU play one more game to wrap up the regular-season at 11 a.m., CT Sunday.
