CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri soccer team will travel to Martin, Tenn. Friday for a winner-take-all match for the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference regular season championship and the right to host the OVC Tournament with the UT Martin Skyhawks. Kickoff is slated for 7p.m. The match can be seen on the OVC Digital Network.

Quick Kicks:
•The Redhawks and Skyhawks tied in their match in the regular season last year, 1-1 but UT Martin knocked the Redhawks out of the 2012 OVC Tournament with a 1-0 victory.

•The Redhawks are 10-4-4 all-time against the Skyhawks.

On Tap:
About UT Martin -–UT Martin defeated Eastern Illinois, 2-0, and fell to SIUE, 1-0. Dominika Conc and Alyssa Curtis each scored a goal in the win over Eastern Illinois. It was the fourth goal of the season for Curtis while it marked the third score of the season for Conc. Goalkeeper Mariah Klenke gave up just one goal and made seven saves over the two matches. She notched her sixth solo shutout of the season in the win over EIU.

Looking Back:
SIUE/Eastern Illinois Recap -– Southeast Missouri picked up a pair of wins last week, defeating SIUE, 1-0, and Eastern Illinois, 4-0. Junior Kasey Crowden recorded back-to-back goals in the win over Eastern Illinois. She led the Redhawks in goals and points over the weekend. Her two goals and two shots on goal each tie a career-high. Junior defender Jacey Boyko was part of a defense that did not allow a goal over two matches. She also recorded a shot on goal against Eastern Illinois. Senior goalkeeper Ashton Aubuchon broke the school's career saves record in the win over SIUE. She posted seven saves over the weekend and holds the top spot with 234 career stops. She also picked up two more shutouts over the weekend.

News and Notes:
Checking the Standings – With one OVC matches left, Southeast is looking good with a 6-1-2 league record. The Redhawks' 20 points (second place) are closely on the heals of UT Martin. The top six teams qualify for this month's OVC Tournament. In the first year of a 10-match schedule, Southeast earned the fourth seed by amassing 17 points in 2012. Southeast is one point behind UT Martin. Friday's match between the Redhawks and Skyhawks will be a winner-take-all affair for the 2013 OVC regular season championship and the right to host the OVC Tournament.

A New Record – Heading into Friday's match against SIUE, Ashton Aubuchon was one save short of tying the career saves record. With her seven saves on the weekend, Aubuchon rocketed into first place in the record book with 234 career saves and counting.

No "Minor" Achievement – Freshman Natasha Minor has shown a maturity beyond her years in her first season at Southeast. The De Pere, Wis., native leads the Redhawks with 12 points (4 goals, 4 assists) and is currently tied for ninth in the OVC with 0.80 points per match.

Scoring is a "Bre"ze – One player who appears to be finding her offensive stride is junior forward Breana Beine. After posting only one assist in the season's first 12 contests, Beine cracked the score sheet in both of Southeast's victories last weekend. The transfer from Evansville scored her first goal as a Redhawk in last Friday's overtime win over Belmont. She came through again in Sunday's win over Tennessee Tech, assisting on the lone goal of a 1-0 win over the Golden Eagles.

Defensive Stalwart – Freshman defender Christina Rohde has been just the anchor the Southeast defense needs this year. After graduating two senior backs (including 2012 OVC Defensive Player of the Year Hayley Abbott) last fall, Rohde has picked up the slack on the back line. The St. Louis, Mo., native has played 1,454 minutes this season and helped Southeast post seven shutouts and hold opponents under two goals 11 times. She is also chipping in offensively with three assists. Twice this season, Rohde has been recognized with the OVC Defensive Player of the Week award.

Go Play, Kids – Southeast's freshman class has been learning on the job this season. Five of the eight freshmen have appeared in at least 12 contests and started on at least four occasions. Natasha Minor leads the team with 12 points (4 G, 4 A) and Christina Rohde has played a team-high 1,454 minutes on defense and has tallied three assists. Meanwhile, Kaitlin Kuznacic (933; 1 assist), Jennifer Antonacci (912 minutes; 1 goal, 2 assists) and Abby Klintworth (563) have all seen significant minutes.

Full Circle – Junior midfielder Torey Byrd's comeback from a knee injury in the spring has given Southeast a nice boost. Byrd has scored two goals in ten matches and earned the start in four of the Redhawks' last seven matches. She came off the bench to score an insurance goal that secured the Redhawks' 2-0 win over Lindenwood on Oct. 4. On Oct. 13, Byrd tallied her second goal of the year, which gave Southeast a 2-1 lead at Morehead State in the first half. Byrd led Southeast with six goals and earned OVC All-Tournament honors in 2012.
