Quick Hits
About Austin Peay – The Lady Govs have won two-straight games and three of their last four contests entering play on Saturday. All three of the wins have been by double digits in that stretch, including two victories by 22 or more points. APSU has a relatively deep team with nine players averaging at least 12 minutes per game. The Lady Govs are paced offensively by Meghan Bussabarger (11.8 points per game) and Leslie Martinez (10.2) while Martinez is the team's top rebounder at 7.1 rebounds per game. As a team, APSU is fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring offense (62.9 points per game) and 10th in scoring defense (68.5). One area that has been a particular trouble for the Lady Govs is their -7.3 rebound margin per game, the third worst in the OVC. APSU opponents have also shot 43.6 percent from the field, only UT Martin has allowed a higher field goal percentage in the league.

Last Meeting – In the final game of the 2011-12 season, Southeast and Austin Peay played for the final spot in the OVC Tournament in Clarksville, Tenn. The result was an offensive outburst for the Redhawks, where they scored a season-high 84 points and had five players score in double figures. The Redhawks shot 55.6 percent from the floor and made 7-of-11 three-pointers, but the Lady Govs outgunned them 88-84 to keep Southeast out of the conference tournament. Bianca Beck (18 points) and Karley Evans (15) combined for 33 points in what was their final collegiate game while current Redhawks Brittany Harriel (15) and Bailie Roberts (10) finished in double figures as well.

With a win, Southeast would…
•Win its second-straight home game over Austin Peay.

•Snap a season-long three-game losing streak.

•Be one victory shy of last season's total (7).

•Be .500 in conference play for the first time since Dec. 4, 2010 (1-1).

Healing Up – The Redhawks were walking wounded towards the end of their non-conference schedule with Brittany Harriel missing seven games due to a hand injury and Allyson Bradshaw missing one with a shoulder injury. The two players were both back on the court in Southeast's OVC opener at Belmont and combined for 26 minutes off the bench. Bradshaw accounted for all of the Redhawks' bench scoring, pouring in 10 points.

Closing Time – While Southeast has lost three-straight games by double digits, it would be unfair to say they have been outclassed for the entire game in any of those contests. The Redhawks were either leading or within two points during the second half of each contest. The losses have come from prolonged slumps that saw games slip away from the Redhawks late. On Dec. 16, the Redhawks were within three points (40-37) of Western Kentucky with 9:12 remaining, but went scoreless for the next 7:09 to fall by a 60-46 margin. Five days later against Missouri State, Southeast held a 46-40 lead with 9:25 to play, but was outscored 29-9 the rest of the way in a 69-55 setback. In its last game, Southeast grabbed a 39-29 lead over Belmont with 17 minutes to play, but was outscored 42-19 the rest of the way in a 13-point loss. Over the past three games, the Redhawks have played dead even (129-129) in the first 30+ minutes of play, but have been outscored by a combined 71-28 margin in the closing nine minutes and change.

Cleaning the Glass – Junior forward Patricia Mack has been a force on the glass this season. Through 13 games, Mack is third in the OVC in rebounding at 9.7 per game. She has grabbed 10+ boards eight times in the last 10 contests, a stretch that began with a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double at Arkansas State on Nov. 19. After two games with single-digit rebounds, Mack has grabbed 10 or more rebounds in seven-straight games. She corralled 12 at Missouri on Nov. 29, pulled in a career-high 17 rebounds against UIC on Dec. 1, grabbed 11 more at Southern Illinois on Dec. 5, recorded 16 against Western Illinois on Dec. 8, finished with 10 at Western Kentucky on Dec. 16, posted a 12-point 10-rebound double-double against Missouri State on Dec. 21 and closed the calendar year with 11 rebounds at Belmont on Dec. 31. Mack is the first Redhawk to grab 10+ rebounds in seven straight games since Lachelle Lyles did it in 13-straight contests on two separate occasions during the 2006-07 season.

Hunter Gets Back on Track – Junior point guard Jordan Hunter had a difficult stretch taking care of the ball, but she has made strides in preventing turnovers lately. The Papakura, New Zealand native committed 27 turnovers (5.4 per game) over five games from Nov. 24 to Dec. 8. In her last three games, however, Hunter has turned the ball over only seven times (2.7 per game) while dishing out 11 assists (3.7 per game). She recorded a season-best seven assists and had only two turnovers in Southeast's last game at Belmont on Dec. 31.
