Quick Hits
About SIU Edwardsville – The Cougars have won three of their last four games after starting 1-3 in conference play. SIUE's latest victory came at home in overtime against defending OVC Champion UT Martin, 67-66, on Saturday night. Raven Berry (19 points, 11 rebounds) and Tierny Austin (18 points, 10 rebounds) posted double-doubles while Michaela Herrod (nine points, 11 rebounds) finished one point shy of one herself and made the game-winning basket in overtime. Berry (13.4 points per game) and Austin (12.2 points per game) pace the SIUE attack, which ranks fifth in the OVC with 61.2 points per game (65.2 in conference play). The Cougars are fourth in the conference in scoring defense (63.0 points per game). SIUE's big strength is inside, where it leads the conference in rebounding margin (+7.6 per game).

Last Meeting – Southeast grabbed an early 5-4 lead after a Karley Evans three-pointer and was within one point (10-9) six minutes into the game. The Cougars outscored the Redhawks 28-8 over the next 13 minutes to go up 38-17. SIUE went ahead by as much as 25 points in the second half. Bianca Beck (11 points) and Brittany Harriel (10 points) scored in double figures while Patricia Mack (13 rebounds) and Bailie Roberts (11 rebounds) hauled in double-digit rebounds.

With a win, Southeast would…
•Snap a four-game losing streak.

•Defeat SIU Edwardsville for the first time since Jan. 21, 1991, Southeast's last Division II season (0-4 since).

•Surpass last season's road win total.

Nearing a Milestone – Senior Bailie Roberts has been on quite a roll lately, scoring in double figures in eight of Southeast's last nine games, averaging 13.6 points per game in that span. Roberts is 119 points shy of becoming the 17th Redhawk to score 1,000 career points. In order to hit that mark during the regular season, she needs to average 13.2 points over Southeast's final nine games. Only six players have scored 1,000 points playing Division I at Southeast for their entire career dating back to the 1991-92 season. The last Southeast player to score 1,000 points was Tarina Nixon, who did so during the 2008-09 season and finished her career with 1,150 points.

Recent Slump – Southeast followed a season-best three-game winning streak with a four-game losing skid. During their three wins, Southeast allowed only 55.4 points per game on 32.4 percent shooting while averaging 66.7 points per game. The Redhawks' offense has still been strong enough at 63.8 points per game, but their defense has struggled. Southeast is yielding 75.5 points and opponents are shooting 43.3 percent from the floor.

Injury News – Senior post Courtney Shiffer has missed the Redhawks' last four games due to a concussion sustained in practice. The senior, who started 14 of Southeast's first 16 games, averages 4.2 points and 4.8 rebounds and ranks sixth in the OVC with 0.9 blocks per game. Beyond that, the Redhawks relied on Shiffer for her defensive presence in the post as the Redhawks allowed 60.8 points per game and held eight opponents under 60 points when she played. Southeast is allowing 75.5 points per contest without her. These are the first games Shiffer has missed since coming to Southeast and she is presently day-to-day.

The Road Ahead – Southeast's four-game losing streak dropped the team to 10th in the overall OVC standings at 2-5, placing the Redhawks on the outside looking in on the OVC tournament field, which takes the top eight teams in the league to Nashville. Southeast will have to climb the standings against some of the better teams in the conference as seven of its remaining nine games come against teams that have a .500 or better conference record. The Redhawks also need to find a way to win on the road, where they are 1-9 this season, as they play five of their last nine games away from the Show Me Center.

Home is Where the Heart is – Southeast has been a completely different team at home versus on the road this season. Through 20 games, thte Redhawks are averaging 65.7 points per game in their nine home dates, going 6-3 in those contests. Conversely, Southeast is scoring only 55 points in its first 11 games away from the Show Me Center, scoring less than 60 points on nine occassions. The first half has been the biggest difference within those games as Southeast has tallied 28 or more first-half points and led at halftime in all but one of its home games, but has only scored more than 27 first-half points on the road three times. The Redhawks have trailed at halftime in 10 of their 11 road/neutral site contests and five of those deficits have been by 10 points or more.
