Vanderpool Named MIC Gymnast of the Week

The Southeast junior won uneven bars and shared the all-around title in a season-opening win at Lindenwood.

Taryn Vanderpool earned her first MIC Gymnast of the Week award after sharing the all-around title at Lindenwood.
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Taryn Vanderpool from the Southeast Missouri gymnastics program was named the Midwest Independent Conference's Gymnast of the Week on Wednesday afternoon.

Vanderpool shared the all-around title and won uneven bars during the Redhawks' season opener at Lindenwood last Friday. Her 9.800 on bars was the top score earned by any gymnast for the entire meet while her 38.525 all-around score tied teammate Megan Fosnow for first place.

This is the first weekly award for the Lenexa, Kan. native.

The Redhawks return to competition on Friday night when they host Centenary at Houck Field House at 6: 30 p.m.
