Parmley Named Finalist for Brooks Wallace Award

Parmley was one of 25 players named to the list of finalist

Southeast Missouri senior shortstop Kenton Parmley was named a finalist for the Brooks Wallace Award Tuesday afternoon by the College Baseball Hall of Fame.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Southeast Missouri senior shortstop Kenton Parmley was named a finalist for the Brooks Wallace Award Tuesday afternoon by the College Baseball Hall of Fame. Parmley was one of two players from the Ohio Valley Conference to be named to the list.
 
Parmley, a native of Goreville, Ill. is hitting .366 on the season ranking fifth in the OVC. He has recorded 83 hits on the season ranking third in the OVC and ranking 23rd in the nation.
 
He ranks fifth in the OVC and 26th in the nation in total bases with 131. Parmley has 11 home runs on the season with 38 RBI. He has recorded 13 doubles and an on-base percentage of .443 ranking eighth in the OVC.
 
The shortstop is the Redhawks all-time leader in hits (296) and at-bats (864) in a career. He has started 213 games ranking second all-time in the Southeast record books behind Jeremy Johnson.
 
Parmley made his mark in NCAA history earlier this season with an historic hitting streak that came to an end at 47-games . His streak is tied for third all-time in NCAA Division I history. His streak started on May 17, 2011 against Ole Miss. During his streak he recorded 25 multi-hit contests and recorded three or more hits nine times.
 
The award, sponsored by Mizuno, recognizes the nation's top shortstop and will be presented June 30 in Lubbock, Texas, as part of the College Baseball Hall of Fame's Night of Champions.
