Gibson Named OVC Player of the Week

Derek Gibson was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week on Monday afternoon by the conference office. Gibson is the second Redhawk to earn Player of the Week honors after
Trenton Moses garnered the honor earlier this season. Gibson, a native of Bonne Terre, Mo. extended his hitting streak to 29-games during Southeast's four contestslast week. He finished the week with a .571 batting average with three home runs and 13 RBI. Gibson slugged 1.143 on the week. The sophomore tied a school record with three doubles on Friday evening at UT Martin. The three doubles tied a school record last reached last by
Brett Russell on May 5, 2010 against Mid-Continent. On Saturday and Sunday he added three home runs. In Saturday's 13-1 win over the Skyhawks he hit his first career grand slam and the Redhawks' third in three weeks. In Southeast's 14-2 win on Sunday he finished the day 4-for-5 with two three-run home runs. He added an RBI single later in the contest as he finished the day with seven RBI.
900 Wins
Head coach Mark Hogan reached 900 wins in his career after the Redhawks 5-3 win over Arkansas State. Hogan has coached at the NJCAA (Lurleen B. Wallace), NCAA Division II (West Alabama) and NCAA Division I level (Southeast). Hogan has 519 wins at Southeast Missouri. Hogan collected his 500th career win against Eastern Illinois last season on May 20, 2011. In 2007, he passed Southeast legendary coach
Joe Uhls as the schools all-time wins leader.

Kenton Parmley's historic hitting streak came to an end at 47-games . His streak is tied for third all-time in NCAA Division I history. He continued his reaching base safely streak after a hit-by-pitch, he extended it to 58-games on Tuesday with a single at SIU. Parmley's streak started on May 17, 2011 against Ole Miss. During his streak he recorded 25 multi-hit contests and recorded three or more hits nine times.
Sophomore
Derek Gibson is currently riding a 29-game hitting streak that started against Arkansas-Little Rock, a contest in which he hit his first career home run. He is the fourth redhawk in the past 10 years to post an impressive hitting streak of 25-games or more.
Senior
Trenton Moses has now reached base safely in a school record 65-straight contest that dates back to last season. Moses, who currently sports .552 on-base percentage, which leads the nation.
First Time Out
The Southeast Missouri baseball team hit five home runs on March 6 at Capaha Field, but it was not enough as Saint Louis defeated the Redhawks 22-11.The Redhawks' five home runs is the most homers in a game since they tallied eight on March 28, 2010 at Morehead State.
