DALLAS, Texas – Southeast Missouri (0-3) closed out their season opening series against #33 Dallas Baptist (3-0) Saturday as the Redhawks fell 3-1 in a five inning contest that was called off due to weather.
Redshirt freshman
Andy Lennington led the Redhawks offensive charge going 2-for-2 in his first career start in a Southeast uniform.
Dallas Baptist opened up the scoring plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the opening frame. The Patriots' Joel Hunter opened the scoring with an RBI double to left field scoring Landon Anderson, who reached base on a walk.
Hunter later would score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Duncan McAlpine to make it 2-0 DBU.
Southeast would cut the Patriots lead in half in the third inning, when newcomer
John Logan Zink scored on a
Jesse Tierney sacrifice fly.
Dallas Baptist added a run in the fifth inning on another sacrifice fly to take 3-1 advantage. The two teams were then unable to complete to game due to rainy weather in the area as Southeast fell 3-1.
Junior Zach Smith (0-1) went five innings in his Redhawk debut allowing three runs on four hits. Lennington led Southeast with a pair of hits. Other Redhawks to add base knocks were

Cole Bieser.
Dallas Baptist starter Taylor Massey (1-0) went five inning allowing five hits with three strikeouts. DBU was offensively by Hunter, who was 2-for-3 on the day with an RBI double and a run scored.
The Redhawks return home Tuesday for their home opener against Harris-Stowe at 3:00 p.m., CT. at Capaha Field.
