CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. – The top two teams in the Ohio Valley Conference baseball standings square off for a three game series this weekend. The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks travel to Clarksville, Tenn. to take on the Austin Peay Governors.
Austin Peay holds the top spot in the standings with a 13-4 record, while Southeast sits in second place with a 10-6 record. The two teams host the top two spots in almost every statistical category.
Game one on Saturday at 1 pm will feature Jordan Underwood on the mound for Southeast Missouri. He is 4-0 in 12 starts and has a 4.71 earned run average in 65 innings. Underwood has struck out 45 batters and is third in the OVC in opponent batting average at .256.
Left-hander Jeremy Dobbs will start for the Governors. He is 8-2, which is the 19th most wins in the nation, with a 4.07 ERA in 66.1 innings this season. The southpaw leads the OVC with 67 strikeouts.
Jon Dicus will start the second game of the doubleheader. He is 3-4 with a 4.71 earned run average in 57.1 innings.
Jack Snodgrass will take the mound for Austin Peay. He is 2-5 with a 4.36 earned run average in 53.2 innings.
Brad LaBruyere will toe the rubber for Southeast on Sunday. He is third in the OVC with a 7-1 record and has a 3.60 ERA in 55.0 innings. He will take on the OVC's strike out per nine innings leader, Zach Toney. Toney has a 4-2 record and a 4.58 earned run average in 53 innings. He has struck out 59 batters, over ten strikeouts per nine innings.
