Southeast Missouri quarterback Daniel Santacaterina was named this week’s Ohio Valley Conference Co-Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Week. A native of Geneva, Illinois, Santacaterina threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns and ran for five yards and another touchdown to lead SEMO to its first win of the season against Dayton. Santacaterina, who was cleared from concussion protocol after taking a hard hit in the second quarter of the Arkansas State game (Sept. 1), completed 21-of-31 passes and did not throw an interception. He engineered three scoring drives as part of a 20-point fourth quarter. Santacaterina threw two of his touchdown passes, consisting of 18 and 73 yards, in the final period. He picked up his first career win as SEMO's starting quarterback after joining the Redhawks from Northern Illinois University in the spring.
