Preseason Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year Tyler Wilber secured his first OVC Player of the Week honor of the 2022 season Monday. A native of Los Alamitos, California, Wilber raised his batting average 63 points from .304 to .367 during a stretch of four Southeast Missouri Baseball victories. For the week (April 5-10), he hit .722 (13-for-18) with eight runs scored, a pair of doubles, two home runs, six RBI, a 1.167 slugging percentage and .722 on-base percentage. Wilber hit the go-ahead home run during game two of the Murray State series and hit the tying home run in the bottom of the ninth in the series finale. In the Murray State series alone, Wilber had back-to-back four-hit games and one three-hit performance. He hit .786 with 11 hits in 14 at-bats and boasted a 1.286 slugging percentage against the Racers. This honor marks the second of Wilber's career. He enters the week as SEMO's top hitter with a .367 batting average.
