Myroslava Zelenchuk posted a 4-0 record in singles and doubles to help the Southeast Missouri women’s tennis team capture its first-ever OVC Tournament title May 1 in Evansville, Indiana. Zelenchuk and Vivian Lai beat Belmont’s Taylor Trondson and Anastasiya Zholdakova, 6-2, at the third doubles position in SEMO’s Semifinal (April 30). Zelenchuk then dropped Abi Solomon, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 4 singles in the Semifinal. In the Championship Final (May 1), Zelenchuk overcame Austin Peay’s Danielle Morris, a 2022 All-OVC Second Team Selection, 6-3, 6-3, at the fourth slot. Zelenchuk, a freshman from Lviv, Ukraine, improved to 13-6 in singles in 2022 and is currently on a six-match win streak. Zelenchuk along with Teona Velkoska, and Lai all went a perfect 2-0 in singles this weekend at the 2022 OVC Tennis Championship. Zelenchuk and Lai opened the Championship Final against Austin Peay with a 6-3 third doubles win over Aleks Topalovic and Yu-Hua Cheng. The duo of Zelenchuk and Lai is 8-3 in doubles this season and went 2-0 at the 2022 OVC Tennis Championship this past weekend.
