Southeast Missouri senior outfielder Kayla Fortner was named the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week Feb. 16. Fortner, who hails from Cedar Hill, Mo., made a smashing debut in Southeast's opening weekend at the Mardi Gras Classic. She hit .474 with six runs scored, four home runs and 13 RBI in five starts. Fortner homered in her first four games of the season and hit a grand slam to put the Redhawks ahead for good in their first win over Grambling State (Feb. 14). She had two hits in four games and added three or more RBI in three contests. Fortner also boasted a 1.400 slugging percentage and .500 on-base percentage. She is the first Redhawk to homer in four-consecutive games since Shelby Kuryllo accomplished the feat in 2011.
