Catcher Wade Stauss was named the 2021 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player as Southeast Missouri baseball captured the 2021 OVC Tournament title with a 10-1 victory over Murray State Sunday. Stauss is SEMO's fourth MVP in OVC Tournament history joining Jeremy Johnson (1998), Clemente Bonilla (2002) and Joey Lucchesi (2016). Stauss started and played in all four games behind the plate in Jackson, Tennessee. Stauss hit .400 (6-for-15) with six runs scored, two doubles, three home runs, five RBI and a 1.133 slugging percentage. The Wildwood, Missouri native, belted a pair of home runs in the Tournament opener against Austin Peay on May 27, finishing with three runs, three RBI, a double and a walk in that game.Â
