Biography

Evansville: Started and lettered three years under current Southeast Missouri head coach Mark Redburn…Helped lead the Purple Aces to a second-place Missouri Valley Conference finish in 2013...Played outfield and first base...Had a terrific 2014 season, hitting .288 in 51 starts..Recorded 300 putouts, nine assists and had a .987 fielding percentage...Tallied 40 hits and 28 RBI to go along with nine doubles and 10 home runs tying for fourth among UE’s single-season leaders...Walked a team-high 30 times, was hit-by-pitch on six occasions and collected six stolen bases...Finished her UE career among the school’s all-time leaders in RBI (4th, 97), home runs (2nd, 24), slugging percentage (3rd, .555), on-base percentage (2nd, .446), walks (2nd, 95), hit-by-pitch (5th, 16), sacrifice flies (3rd, 6) and fielding percentage (5th, .986).

Prep:  Earned letters in four sports at Northwest High School and graduated in 2011...Named 2011 Athlete of the Year... 2011 St. Louis Post-Dispatch Athlete of the Year…First-Team All-Conference, All-Region, and All-Metro honoree...Played for Worth Prospects and were USSSA World Series Champs in 2007.

Personal: Born February 25, 1993…Majoring in Secondary Math Education…Daughter of Greg and Debra Fortner...Her sister Brittany plays softball at Wichita State.
