Southeast Missouri State University Athletics

On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, Southeast Missouri signed 35 players for the 2022 season. The 35-member recruiting class is the largest in SEMO's football history.

All-Conference and All-State selection as a freshman...Tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus after that season and was sidelined his sophomore year...Earned honorable mention All-State honors as a senior...Three-star recruit.
 

PAXTON DELAURENT, QB  
6-5 / 205 / Camdenton, Mo. / Camdenton H.S. / Central Methodist
Played quarterback for two years at Central Methodist University...Earned Heart of America All-Conference honors...Completed 171-of-349 passes for 2,499 yards and 25 touchdowns as the Eagles starting quarterback in 2021...Averaged 208.3 passing yards per game over 12 contests...Was also CMU's top rusher with 553 yards and seven touchdowns on 120 carries...Saw action in five games and threw for 526 yards and six touchdowns as a freshman in 2020...Attended Camdenton High School, where he amassed 7,909 passing yards and 98 touchdowns in 31 career games...Was First-Team All-State and the Missouri Class 4A Player of the Year as a senior...Also earned First-Team All-Conference and All-Region honors that season.

Recorded 28 tackles and forced a fumble as a freshman at Trinity Valley Community College in 2021...Is one of two Trinity Valley CC transfers in Southeast Missouri's 2022 siging class...Played at MacArthur High School in Houston, Texas as a prep.

Played four years of varsity football and started two seasons at Palmetto Prep Academy...Earned Palm Beach ESPN Top 63 and Super 11 for Treasure Coast Top 11 player honors for seniors in the area...Played in the Florida/Georgia Showcase...Did not give up a touchdown at cornerback during his entire high school career...Can also play safety.

First-Team All-State and Missouri High School Football Coaches Association Class 6 Offensive Player of the Year in 2021...Completed 197-of-313 passes (63 percent) for 2,974 yards and 22 touchdowns as a senior at Christian Brothers College High School...Ran for 461 yards and another 12 touchdowns that year, as well...Tied for second on the team in scoring with 72 points...Threw for 1,230 yards and 15 touchdowns, and ran for 275 yards and two scores during his junior season...Helped lead the Cadets to a 13-1 record and Missouri Class 6 State Championship in 2021.

Team captain at Jefferson High School...Helped lead his team to the state championship final in 2020.

Helped lead Owasso High School to a 6A State Championship in 2019...Had 50 tackles and 10 sacks as a junior in 2020...Owasso also made an appearance in the state championship game that season...Earned All-Conference and All-District honors.

Finalist for the Carr Trophy which goes to the most outstanding player in the SEMO Conference...Ran for 1,232 yards and 22 touchdowns, averaging 8.8 yards per carry in 2021...Also caugh nine passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns...Is seeking to become Kennett High School's first Carr Trophy winner since 1985...Earned Class 3 All-State honors...Was teammates with Latreveon Thompson who is also part of the Redhawks 2022 signing class.
 

CAMERON LAWSON, OL 
6-3 / 265 / Liberty, Mo. / Liberty H.S.
All-Conference honoree at Liberty High School...Also earned Second-Team All-District accolades...Received the Missouri Football Coaches Association Hands Team Award which recognizes excellent community service.

   

AMEHRE MORRISON, RB  
5-6 / 160 / Woodstock, Ga. / River Ridge H.S.
Ran for 2,702 yards and 40 touchdowns in his career at River Ridge High School...Scored a total of 42 touchdowns...Still managed to lead his team in rushing with 505 yards and six touchdowns on just 66 carries despite being hindered by injury most of his senior season...Was Cherokee County's leading rusher with 1,958 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2020...A dynamic runner who played a major role in River Ridge High School's resurgence over the last few years...Following a 4-16 record from 2016-18, he helped lead the Knights to a 15-5 mark over his final two prep seasons.

Comes to Southeast Missouri from Shawnee Mission North High School...Strong player with a good skill set...Presents a large target for quarterbacks and blocks well..

Rushed for 1,008 yards and 22 touchdowns on 162 carries as a senior at North County High School...Averaged 6.2 yards per touch...Caught one pass for eight yards...Helped lead the Raiders to the Class 4 state semifinals...Earned Second-Team All-State accolades...First-Team All-Conference honoree, as well.
 

 

BRADEN THOMPSON, TE

Finished his career at Nebraska City High School with 33 receptions for 630 yards and nine touchdowns in 2021...Enjoyed a breakout junior season where he had 47 catches for 898 yards and 13 touchdowns...Also started at middle linebacker and recorded a team-high 85 tackles that year...Career totals included 113 catches for 1,890 yards and 28 touchdowns...Also played basketball.
 

 

DAYSHAWN WELCH, RB

Won the Regional Radio Football Player of the Year honor for the second year in a row at Park Hills Central High School...Class 3 All-State honoree...Ran for 1,583 yards and 24 touchdowns to go along with nearly 12 yards per carry his senior season...Is Central's all-time scoring leader with 71 touchdowns and has the school's career rushing record with 5,278 yards...Also has the school record for single-game scoring and the single-game rushing record of 381 yards.

Helped lead Southaven High School to a 9-4 record and second-place 6A Region I District finish in 2021...All-District selection and North/South All-Star participant.

RYAN FLOURNOY, WR  
6-2 / 195 / Hazel Crest, Ill. / Homewood-Flossmoor H.S. / Iowa Western CC
Transferred to Iowa Western Community College from the University of Central Missouri...Was Iowa Western's top receiver in 2021 with 32 receptions for 545 yards and five touchdowns...Averaged 17 yards per catch...Suffered a preseason injury and missed the start of the 2019 season at UCM...Ended up making 17 catches for 170 yards in 10 games that year...Redshirted as a true freshman in 2018...Went to Homewood-Flossmoor High School where he was an All-Conference pick.

Earned First-Team All-Southwestern Conference honors as a defensive tackle at Edwardsville High School...Ranked third on the team with 55 tackles and recorded a team-high five sacks and 11 tackles for loss...Posted a career-best four sacks vs. Alton...Finished his senior year with 27 solo tackles and 28 assisted stops...Turned in 23 tackles, six tackles for loss and four sacks as a junior.
 

 

KYRON DOWNING, WR

Attended Vinita High School, where he was one of the elite playmakers in Oklahoma high school football...Has excellent speed...Played running back and finished his prep career at wide receiver...Had over 1,600 rushing yards and nearly 30 touchdowns in 2018...Track star who ran 11.1 in the 100 and 49.7 in the 400-meter dash...AAU Track All-American...Also played basketball.

Finalist for the Derland Moore Award which is given to the top defensive player in the SEMO Conference...Ended his 2021 campaign at Kennett High School with 113 tackles, including 43 for loss and 18 sacks...Forced four fumbles and had four fumble recoveries...Added nine pass breakups and scored a defensive touchdown...First-Team All-SEMO Conference selection...Teammates with Jordan Jarrett who is also part of Southeast Missouri's 2022 signing class...Second-Team Class 3 All-State pick.

Made 26 catches for 278 yards and one touchdown as Kirkwood High School's second-leading receiver as a senior...Midwest Boom Blue/Grey All-American...Both of his parents are Southeast Missouri alums.

Finished his two-year stint at Southwest Mississippi Community College with 22 receptions for 303 yards and two touchdowns during the 2021 season...Was the Bears' top return man who ran back 23 kickoffs for 562 yards (24.4 ypr) and one touchdown...Also returned two punts for touchdowns...Two-time First-Team All-Region selection at Gautier High School...Won four state titles in powerlifting..Was Gautier's leading rusher and passer his senior season.

Played at Missouri State the last four years...Had six catches for 66 yards in four games...Honorable mention All-Missouri Valley Football Conference pick after hauling in a team-high 45 receptions for 596 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the spring of 2021...Started all 11 games as a sophomore in 2019...Led the Bears in all-purpose yards (665)...Was also MSU's top kick returner who ran back 10 kickoffs for 192 yards...Went to Westmoore High School in Oklahoma...Earned District Wide Receiver of the Year honors as a senior.
