LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Southeast Missouri Track and Field teams continued up the 2026 OVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships with 4 more event titles.
In the morning session
Anna Thomason dominated the women's heptathlon sweeping the final three events to take home her third OVC title in the heptathlon scoring 5100 points. She opened the morning winning the long jump reaching 18-6. She also topped the field in the javelin winning the event by 7.27m after she reached 121-8. She completed the wire-to-wire lead taking care of business in the 800m finishing the race in 2:33.79. She ended the competition winning by 837 points.
In the men's decathlon
Luis Schadlich's big morning also propelled him to the top of the leaderboard. He opened the morning finishing second in the 110m hurdles in 15.28 along with winning the discus reaching 142-5. In the end of the event, Schadlich finished second in the javelin reaching 154-0 to extend his lead one final time before gliding to a fifth-place finish in the 1500m to claim the event title. He totaled 6880 points to top the field by 445 points and win the decathlon for SEMO fir the first time since 2022.
The field events opened up with the men's discus when
Zavier Winton took home his second OVC individual title with a throw that landed X. He topped a field that included teammates
Mark Goldman who finished X reaching X and
Quinton Maxwell who finished X with a distance of X.
In the women's discus
Andreese Ortiz took the title with a distance of 158-10 just ahead of teammate
Alyssa Repke who threw 142-10.
Emerson Gross also competed finishing in 11
th reaching 121-1.
In the women's high jump
Liberty Blackburn returned to the place where she started her college career and finished fourth after clearing 5-4.
In the men's high jump
John Hartmann finished fifth with a clearance of 6-8.
The final field event final included the long jump. In the men's competition Cole Burenderman and
Matt Pluff both qualified for the finals. Bruenderman finished fifth with a personal best jump of 24-6. Pluff snuck into the finals and finished ninth after a personal best leap of 23-9.
Aarion Jackson was the first jumper short of finals after he jumped 23-0 to finish 10
th.
In the women's competition
Anna Thomason competed yet again and finished eighth after jumping 18-8 while teammate
Molly Grohmann finished 11
th after reaching 18-4.
In the track prelims Friday,
Jon'David White opened up the running qualifying for the finals in the 110m hurdles finishing second in his heat and third overall in 14.18.
Anna Thomason also qualified for the women's 100m hurdles final Saturday with a first place finish in 13.75.
In the men's 400m prelim
Jonas Davis topped his heat and qualified second for the final in 47.20.
Kani Smith and
Connor Moore also snuck in and qualified with smith running a 48.05 and Moore finishing in 48.15.
The women's 400m prelims saw
Sydney Burdine lead the prelim field claiming the No. 1 spot finishing in 54.88.
Alaina Lester just missed out on the finals qualifying ninth in 57.26.
The women's 100m prelims was next on the track and
Jasmine McClelland (12
th, 11.82) and
Makayla Jones (14
th, 11.90) both fell short of the final.
In the men's 800m final
Cole Reinders takes pole position into the final Saturday with a time of 1:51.66.
Evan Fuller (8
th, 1:53.66) and
Tyler Anderson (9
th, 1:53.66) claim the final two spots to also qualify for the final.
The Redhawk women had great success in the 800m prelims when
Erika Mellor paced the field running in 2:12.84 ahead of her teammates
Madelyn Gray who finished third in 2:14.19,
Kale Clements who finished fourth in 2:14.55 and
Ceyda Bayur who finished seventh in 2:15.46.
The lone final on the track was the 3000m steeplechase where
Jacob Blassingame finished runner up in 9:13.12 and
Myles Thornburg finished fifth in 9:36.26.
In the women's heat
Layla Fliege finished seventh in 11:42.67 and
Claire Horstmann was just behind in 9
th in 11:57.88.
The championships continue Saturday with the field finals beginning at noon with all of the other track finals starting at 12:30 p.m.
